Ocean view Vero Beach, is it worth the extra points?

I have booked an OV Inn at Vero Beach next year for Easter to proceed our DCL cruise, but, I'm starting to question the extra points for the ocean view. Is the ocean view actually worth the extra points? This past spring we stayed in a GV at BLT and I was glad we had the lake view, less points and we still had a great view. When I read about Aulani and some of the limited OV rooms I'm just wondering if Vero Beach would be the same, a limited ocean view.

don't think so - the inn w/ocean view are in the front/sides - the ones w/o are in the back.

that stated there was a small lake you could see with a garden room.

I think if it is just a couple days preceding a trip it is worth it. Likely, you will get an Ocean Facing room (you should request that for good measure) and especially if you haven't been there before. Sunrise can be fantastic.

We've been there a lot, and because we're early risers and spend so much time on the beach we typically take in sunrise on the beach. But if you're a young family that would be hard to get up and on the beach to see sunrise then this makes it much easier. Maybe just you and a cup of coffee.

Next time we go, we're likely to request an Ocean View once again. That said, the one we had before was on the side of the building.

It's pretty common to see pictures of the Vero Beach pool from about the third floor. That was pretty much the view from our room. But it was possible to look to the hard left and see the ocean.

The main guarantee is that if you book a garden view room, you will not see the ocean.

If you decide to keep your OV Inn room, you may want to call and put in a request for an unobstructed view. We had an obstructed view during one of our stays, and we had to stand and lean over the balcony wall to see the ocean.

We had an ocean view from our deluxe studio in building 12. We requested top floor and were lucky enough to have a nice view from our balcony! It was not like the view pictured above but we enjoyed it.

In January when I'm going to the inn, the point difference is only 2 points a night. Definitely worth the extra for me! I was surprised at the little savings for GVIR because we have had both & OVIR is wonderful!

Of course, I am actually in the lobby as I write this. We have room 2222 and it has a perfect view to me. It is also in a great location and close to the lobby. I am sure that no matter what you choose you cant go wrong.

This is one beautiful property!!

Hi! WE booked an ocean view last year and we got a room overlooking the pool. When I went to the desk to ask about the room, they said that it was considered an ocean view room. You had to go out on the balcony and turn your head left to see the ocean. Not really an ocean view in my book.

2 years ago we books an Ocean View inn room (for DH and me) and a Garden View inn room for our kids. We had a front-facing view of the ocean and the sunrise, they had a view of the parking lot and entrance to the resort. We will be there in 10 days, and have books 2 Ocean View inn rooms! While the kids didn't mind their view, I would have hated it!

I think so...we had an OVIR a couple of years ago (in August) and both the balcony and the room were HUGE. We had afternoon thunderstorms that killed the pool & beach for awhile each afternoon but it was nice to have the balcony to go out on with a view of the ocean. Also, great for sunrises if you're an early riser!! The points at VB are pretty cheap (at least in comparison to most of the WDW resorts) and I think it was only a couple more per night for the OVIR - totally worth it IMO.

We checked in yesterday to an OVIR. My answer is "YES!!!".:cool1:

When I figure it out, I'll post some pics.

Yes, it is worth it. But I lucked out on two rooms - I realize that I won the lottery on a great snag:

And I had my parents down and their view was even better:

There room was wild. Top floor - irregular suite plan and HUGE. I swear you could have fit in another bed. And the balcony was massive. In the first picture I'm practically inside their suite. Lovely view:

AND EDITED TO ADD: the joy an ocean view room, for me, is not just the view - I'm sure most rooms can hear the ocean but the OVIRs feel like you're right there on the beach - I kept the door open a touch and I have never had such wonderful sleeps in my life.

And a few pictures that make me happy and make me dream of a VB vacation no matter what room I get:

My answer in a word is YES!!! Sometimes you can get a pool view/semi ocean view. We had that once but the last 2 times were straight on---sooo beautiful. I think we have the same sunrise pic as the above poster. It was the best minutes of our Vero Trip (but the whole trip was fabulous) Go for it!!!!

Don't waste the points. You aren't guaranteed a great view. We had one reservation for ocean view, we walked out, and the room was facing the pool. If you turned your head you could see the ocean through the trees. Don't waste your points.

I heard to request 2nd or 3rd floors with OV due to the first floor having obstructed plant views. Can anyone confirm this? Do I need to request a certain term, such as front side ocean view?

I would go with the OV room. We had one last year on the fourth floor and it was amazing! We were right above the little back lawn space and my girls watched 2 weddings from our balcony on Saturday. Beautiful resort.

If you decide on oceanview I would call the resort directly and ask for oceanfront. We had a view of rooftops with a tiny sliver of ocean one year.

My vote is yes! My hubby (boyfriend at the time) took our first vacation together to Vero Beach. We had ocean view and loved to leave the doors open to listen to the ocean. A year later we were married at Vero Beach and booked ocean view rooms in the inn for our parents and bridal party. Everyone had great views and loved the rooms. Six years and two kids later, hubby is still itching to go back. :)
