I am looking to stay in ocean city nj in august. I have never been before. Anyone know of a nice "budget" place to stay? Thanks!!

My SIL stayed at the pavillion Motor Lodge last year and she really liked it. It is close to the beach and has a pool. We did a long week at the Ocean front motel, also cheap, but no pool. There are also a lot of B&B's if you want to do that?

Thank you! Not too worried about a pool. Basically the cheap and clean!:lmao:

We go every year as my DH has family there. I would say a great budget place is the Impala Island Inn. Great location, you can walk to everything. The rooms were not spectacular but were large enough and very clean. This year we had extra people with us so we stayed at the Beach Club Suites. More $$ but much larger accommodations. Check the website for Impala, they have specials sometimes and also have "sister" properties. You will have so much fun. We really love it there.:thumbsup2

There are many hotels, if you are looking right on the beach be prepared to pay alot. Also, I would book now if you want to go in August. Summer fills up fast on the weekends and there is usually a minimum night stay. I am from Cape May, a few minutes south of OC and I know if you pretty much don't have a room booked now for August you wont have much of a choice in hotels.

this will be our 1st trip to OC, nj in a couple weeks. we are staying at the Impala Island Inn, via recommendations from a few co- workers. Clean, good location, etc. IMO, it was pricey- cheapest room was $175 per night for a very basic motel, not on the beach. Supposed to be clean. There was another motel I foudn on trip adivisor rated well, but it did not have a pool, although it was beach front. Good luck!

just wanted to add there are some hotels in Somers Point, NJ, which is just over the bridge to Ocean City (toll bridge). The Econolodge was much cheaper there. HTH!

Thank you guys so much! I think I am going to go with the Impala. :thumbsup2

We've stayed at the Impala Inn for several years, last month being our last trip--great location--price is ok for so close to the beach--you'll have a great time.:woohoo:

we used to go in the summer when i was a kid. we'd rent a little place close to the beach. good memories.

have a blast!

We stay at the Beach Club. It's owned by the same company as Impala. It's pricier, but it's right on the boardwalk and has a pool that overlooks the boardwalk/beach. We love it there!

Haven't been to OC in 38 years!!! Yikes I must be getting old....is it still a dry town????????

When did the bridge from Somers Point become a toll bridge?

OP - I don't know how long you are planning to stay in OC but you may find a good deal on a last minute rental from a realtor.

Just got back and we stayed at the Forum Motor Lodge. It was nice. Clean and had a pool. Was located in a nice place and close to boardwalk. The people were sooo nice. They couldn't have been more helpful. Def. would stay there again.

Sorry, someone had told me it was a toll bridge.... (I wrote this before our 1st trip). We went to OC last week... no toll bridge. Stayed @ the Impala. Dated but clean room. Great location..... biggest negative- we ran out of hot water one afternoon..... not cool for $200 a night!

We have done many trips to OC over the years, but we have always rented a house for the week. This year we have other trips planned, but I still wanted to do a long weekend at the beach. I searched around, but all of the prices seemed so high. We have 4 kids, so we would need two rooms...at $200 a night times 2...that sure adds up fast!

Anyway, someone suggested Somers Point area and I discovered a Residence Inn. The room was a suite with two double beds, a sofa bed, and a kitchen. The price also included a free breakfast buffet in the morning! I paid $150 a night (not weekend) with AAA discount. Granted, we did have to drive in to the beach, but that was not a big deal and the room was a nice notch above the standard beach motel room.
