We just signed our final paperwork today on BLT! So excited! Now my mind is racing with a zillion questions, and one in particular I'm hoping someone can answer...

What kind of lock does the door to the balcony from the living room of a 1 bedroom villa have? Sounds silly I know, but we will have a 6 year old and a 3 year old sleeping in the living room on our next trip and the thought of them being able to go out on the balcony at night without me hearing them is freaking me out! Do they have a high up latch? Or is is just a deadbolt on the handle?

Thanks!

I see that my DH already posted a photo of the double locks on our studio at BLT. We had trouble getting the door open the first time. To make you feel better I'd also place a large suitcase on it's horizontal side in the well of the sliding door. So that if the door is opened it cannot open very far. I've seen people use a two inch wood pole that is about three feet long in their homes. I would think the suitcase would work too and there should be just enough space to wedge one in there between the couch and into the window's slide area.

That is what we have in our home. We have a piece of wood that slides in to the track so even if someone got the lock open, they can't push open the door.

I also think that putting the suitcase on the track at night would be a secondary way to ensure safety. But, we too had time figuring out those locks last summer! I said to my DS 20 "Wow, it is not only kid proof, its adult proof as well!!!".

the door is the livingroom is not the sliding door you get in the 1-bedroom. and I think it does have a separate lock.
