Hi Guys,
Have seen the threads on this but wanted to see if anyone had gotten different information?

Basically I called several of the courthouses in Florida to see if we could obtain our license via mail on our own. I've been told the only way to have this happen is to hire a coordinator such as aweddingforyou.com

Has anyone been able to do this without a coordinator?

Thanks!!

I actually just got my application in the mail today from the Brevard County Clerk of Court. Do a search and you'll find a couple of old threads with the website you use to do this.

We have just started to look at getting the wedding license (we live in England) and found a lot of problems with the by mail license the cost for a start, its double what you would pay if you just went to the court house, and the added cost of having your passport and the form that they send you notarised which is not cheep. so if there is another way i would be interested to know. I think that we will take a morning off from the parks to go to the courthouse. (unless we find another way) :coffee:

Thanks for the link! Called them to get a timeline but as someone stated earlier there is no guarantee when you will get the license. She told me its based on a first come first serve basis with a lot of back and forth work between the couple and the clerk.

Looks like we'll just make a quick trip to the courthouse but could be useful for those who have time before the wedding!!

Thanks everyone!

I got our from Brevard as well, and with all the back and forth it only took about 2.5 weeks, before we had our official liscence! It was not bad at all! I totally recommend it!:goodvibes

We also got ours through Brevard County, and did not need to visit in person. We applied for the license 90 days prior to the wedding and as another poster mentioned, the whole process took about 3 weeks.

We went right to the courthouse 3 days before our wedding and they issued it right then and there. I was more nervous about the mail idea. Whatever your more comfortable with......it can be done either way.

Now do you get your marriage license from the county you are getting married in or the county you live in??? confused.....:surfweb:

I think it can be any county in the state you are getting married in. So, for a DFTW, you would have to get a license from any county in the state of Florida.

We got ours at the Osceola County Courthouse in Orlando-- we were told it is the closest to Disney (considering downtown traffic makes Orange County harder and longer to get to).

You can get your marriage liscense from ANY county in the state that you are getting married in. If you plan on having a wedding at Walt Disney World-- your marriage liscense can be obtained from ANY courthouse in the state of Florida within so much time of your wedding, then it expires. You do not have to go to the Courthouse of the county you are married in. :goodvibes

The last time I checked, there are five locations in Orange County where you can get your license so you don't have to go through downtown Orlando traffic. That's worth pursuing if you're planning to rent a car for some or all of your trip. Some of the locations may be nearby your officiant's office/church, cosmetician's house or tux fitting location and you can get multiple things done at once.

I am in the middle of getting our license from Brevard county. I filled out the form I downloaded and faxed it to them. They sent me the application to marry and we took it to the notary and got it signed, now I have to mail it back. It has been quite easy, I just hope I get it in time.

I'm surprised everyone had so little trouble with the Brevard county order-by-mail option. I mailed ours off over six weeks ago and haven't heard a word from them. I guess I should try again...

I faxed ours in mid January and the official application came last Saturday in the mail - so it took 3 weeks just to get the application. I guess the time varies quite a bit depending on how busy they are.

I sent my application to Brevard county on Jan. 16. The following week we recieved the form that needed to be notorized. On Jan 27 we mailed the form and fee back. On Feb 2 we received our Marriage License that is good until April 1. IF you send your application more than 60 days before your wedding date, they cannot proccess it because the marriage liscense is only good for 60 days.

We used our "limo" from our wedding package to pick us up from the airport. He took us to the courthouse, really didn't even take that long. I still have the receipt!! And he allowed to do a quick grocery stop for essentials for our room fridge!

We didn't need the limo the day of our wedding, so our FTW cooridinator worked this out for us!!
