I'll be at IOA on 12/20/11

I'm staying on property.

Want to be at the park when it opens for Potter ( what's the latest to be at front gate?)

Want to hit the Grinch parade, Sinbad Stunt show and Posesdone Fury

I'm having lunch at 12:30 at Mythos

Seeing I have a pass for staying on site any advice for seeing the park and getting it all in.

Also need to be at Buffets by 5:30

Anything welcome.........

Thanks

onsite guests are allowed to enter ioa one hour before the official opening.

check the calendar for what the hours will be during your stay.

if you want to avoid any crowds or lines, be at the entrance gate for ioa 30 minutes prior to the 1 hour of official opening.
if there are 2 lines, ask the TM there which line is for hotel guests.

if park opens at 9 for general admittance, then the park would have early entry for 8. be there at 7:30.

you will show your hotel room key to the TM at the gate.
They will let you in at the appropriate time.

only potter will be open and available for the early entry guests.

As far as everything else you want to do, you should be ok.

When you get into the park make sure to find a times guide so you can figure out what time both shows are. The Grinch parade you mention is really a show and not a parade. Each show lasts about 20-30 minutes and you need to be there 20-30 minutes early depending on how busy the park is.

Posideons Fury is really something you can skip if you have never been to IOA and want to see all the major rides. It is basically a 15-20 minute walking show with a very bland story. I personally would save this until after you have done everything else and if you still have time, great! Do it, if not, you didn't miss much imo.

Try to see and do everything in the first hour or two at Potter. From there, base everything else around the two showtimes. You still have a lot of great rides to ride. I normally tell people after HP to head in a circle starting with Jurrasic Park, but since you have two shows to see, you need to be near the shows when they get closer to the time for them to start. You should have enough time to see everything with your room key since it gives you front of the line to nearly every ride.

macraven I've been meaning to ask you what TM stands for ?

Seeing IOA opens at 8:00 AM the few days I'm there, guess I'm getting up early OMG.......7:00 for Guests puts me at 6:30....

..................................................................................................

Also good point added to the post following yours....I think I'm doing the Grinch show and seeing other attactions first.....

Thanks

that's right for opening time.
(i have not checked the calendar hours for your dates.)

you said the park opens at 8:00.
yup, early entry will be at 7:00.

don't be surprised if you only see about 25 people in line at 6:30 am on the 20th.

but, with you going right before the crowds really build, you should be fine on the 20th. if that line has many peeps in it, prepare to get up early for the rest of your days if you want more potter time.

i would expect more crowds starting on friday the 24th.
it is kind of difficult to predict right now.
it usually has tremendous crowds once it is the 25th throughout the rest of the month.

do potter, go back and hit the Grinch.
you'll like it!

on the other days you are staying onsite, and if you are done with potter, enter the park at 7:50 and plan to do other things at ioa.

i really enjoyed Sinbad show.
a combination of a story line, acrobates and action.
i took a pass on it for years due to hearing bad vibes about the show and finally started seeing it about 5 years ago.

sit at the right side of the center, next to the platform.
sit where you are about even with that platform.

you will see more of the action that is preformed on the platform then.

make sure you can see the entire stage up front as the action will travel throughout the show.

it is possible that Sinbad could be going bye-bye in the future.

Poisendon is worth seeing at least once.

i usually only do that show about once every 4 years.
if the vortex has the water running, it make it add to the show for me.

put the Mystic Fountain in your plans.
if there are kids or teens around the fountain when you are there, sit on the side wall and watch, listen and enjoy.

How many people would you expect to be lined up for early entry on the 25th?

raven I planned On doing Potter 1X if I can get away with it...Getting up that early would be painful while on vacation but to have the benefit of limited people in Potterville will be worth it....21,22 and 23 are my park days I'm guessing my 9 year old will like IOA better so I'm doing IAO, US then back to IOA

Thanks again

Anyone know of a 24 breakfast place nearby so I can get my family to the park before the sun shines?

Staying at Royal Pacific? is room service a possibilty in the early morning hours before 6:00AM

from the website:

24-hour room service

Eat in the privacy of your own room and choose from a wide variety of menu options, whether you have an early meeting or need a midnight snack - we'll bring it to you!

good.....thanks Which brings me to another question....I need to pick up my tickets for the parks....does the hotel do that or do I have to go to citywalk....If at city walk how early does the ticket booth open because I need to be in line early 12/21 between 6:30 - 7:00....thanks guys any secrets to collecting tickets quick and easy?

if you ordered your tickets online for pick up later, you can pick them up at the kiosk at your hotel.
you don't have to wait until you get to the kiosky outside of guest services to have them printed out.

guest services opens about 30 minutes prior to park opening.
there are two gs.
one outside of the park and one inside the park.

you'll have to refresh my memory.
did you already order regular park tickets?
or did you order the AP and plan to buy park tickets with the AP discount?

We got anual passes through AAA. They have to be traded in for real tickets when I get there..
