I have planned a DCL cruise for my daughter's 5th Birthday. We like Disney I guess. Not really over the top in love just thought it would be something fun and memorable for her. Now I'm just trying to figure out why I am sitting on the beach on vacation in Punta Cana checking the trip reports and the forum for updates.....I think I have become obsessed with it all. Why is this sooooooooo addicting?

Simple really, the Disney Magic and Pixie dust. Walt created a long catalog of loving stories and characters.........no other studio comes close in volume and wonder. Walt tried to show us all that not only is there that spark of magic and kid in all kids, but we adults have the same bit of kid in us all.

They have expanded this to a fleet of Classic vessels, wonderfully themed/designed and excellently built, without short cuts. Their own uniquely designed terminal in PC. Great service and entertainment with shows of Broadway quality and great food (OK food is subjective).

However when you see the vessels and the joy in your kids eyes. When you see all DCL has to offer, even for you and hubbies fun, then you will really KNOW!

Enjoy your cruise.

Got to agree with @Tonka's Skipper. We too love Disney. Started with the parks and that made an easy segue to DCL ships. Even though we had cruised other lines before, DCL quickly became our favorite (but not exclusive) cruise line.

We fell in love with Walt on the Wonderful World of Color as kids...........and like you, then the parks and then DCL. I came ashore in 1983 from the tankers and it took my wife 20 years to get me to try a cruise...I have to admit I do enjoy them, DCL or RCCL.

Lol!!! I'm literally sitting on the couch now with my 3 year old on the board and watching the Wonder's Disney Dreams on YouTube!

I grew up in Orlando making numerous trips to Disney World as a kid and loved every minute of it. I even remember when you had to buy tickets to ride the individual rides which was a real hassle.

Since then, Disney has grown its empire with more movies, rides, parks, cruise lines, etc. and we love seeing how our DD is having the same happy times with Disney that we had as children. We started with cruises because it is a much more controlled environment for kids to get exposed to Disney and we will take our DD to her first trip at the Magic Kingdom later this year when it cools down (we live about 35 min from the parks).

All in all, it is a wonderful place for kids to enjoy happiness and fun and that is getting harder and harder to come by these days with all that is going on in the World.

My Disney obsession started when we were young. When I was 14 we went to WDW with our family and stayed at the Poly (back in the early seventies). I said to myself then "When I get married I want to have my honeymoon at the Poly". Fast forward to our honeymoon and yep we stayed at the Poly. Lagoon View room was $65 per night!!!! I have the receipt still. Been to WDW probably 50 plus times and then found DCL.....put a deposit down for the Maiden Voyage of the Magic almost 2 years before she set sail. Had never cruised before but decided I wanted my first cruise to be on Disney. For the MV DCL did a lottery system because so many people wanted to book the MV. The MV got pushed back a few times but finally she had her MV on July 30, 1998. I WAS HOOKED!!! Still love WDW but I am really into DCL.:cloud9:
