I'm totally diseased and have gone off the deep end. I'm actually scouring the house looking for stuff of mine to sell for money. We're not talking normal garage sale stuff--I'm actually checking out some of my jewelry saying "Do I really need this crap? I could sell this and really make a dent in my savings for a WDW trip." It's insane I know! Then I find myself saying "Maybe I can sell some of my husbands stuff? He won't miss that guitar that he plays everyday--he has 3 of them."
I'm actually telling myself this is nuts, then I say--it's liberating to get rid of yourself. Ugh.

Don't feel bad I went through stages of this before. I got wrapped up in how much money I was making and how many trips I could take to Disney. I was even going to sell my Disney collectibles. Then realized I was going insane. I finally was overwelmed with all that I was doing. I was constantly running to get more boxes and to the post office to ship it. You will get bored of it after awhile and probably slow down. Just in case you don' t you might want to search the internet for a support group and warn your husband to lock everything up. LOL

We all need a 9 step program to get us out of this way of thinking, I'm there right with you, I might be a sicky when it comes to finding the money for Disney but at least I am enjoying life, it is so darn shot.:D

I'm with ya ! Having a mega garage sale this Saturday for our July WDW trip ! It's amazing the stuff you find to sell that you never knew you even had ? One person's junk is another's treasure.....lol

I am currently doing the same thing - selling anything I can get my hand on for some extra cash. It isn't that we really need it, but I have a better sense of "I can do this if I make this much money", kind of like extra things I would like to do that isn't what we budgeted for.
Surprisingly, I have sold quite a bit, and I am not done, but I agree, I get bored with it. I did it in January, got sick of it, started again in May, and I am almost at that sick of it point again, so I may slow down, but since we are getting down to the wire, I am trying to keep pace.
Glad to know I am not the only one doing it, though!!:D

I'm going through this with EBAY. We are going to WDW in Two weeks and I have been selling stuff like crazy.. just to have a little bit extra! The going to the PO every day gets old really fast!

Someone HELP please! I was eyeing my DH's van the other day... hmmmmm....

:D :D :D :D

Maggie, you are too funny. I was sitting here thinking "what else can I sell" and my husbands truck popped into my mind. I would never sell it, but just sitting here thinking about it shows how crazy I am. I guess I am lucky I only have 49 days left - ofcourse that may be bad, too. Gives me time to sell other things.

I am trying to sell our kitchen table - well, we want to buy a new one anyway, but will the money I make off of it go towards a new table???

Probably not :smooth:

Too funny. I've been kinda, sorta in the same mode saving for the 'extras' for our October trip. Just when you say that's it, I'm done, you see something else and Ebay flashes through your mind! My husband doesn't get it, keeps asking me why just going to Disney AGAIN isn't enough?!? LOL!

Have you thought of going into business to sell others people
stuff?....I would love to sell some of my JUNK but don't know where to begin with Ebay....already had the garage sale! LOL

I would love it if someone sold my stuff! LOL

Holycow

The only way we can go to Disney is on selling things and reward programs...plus the tax refund. I've actually been going to yard sales of people who sell their stuff for $1.00 or less and then selling it on Ebay for $5.00 and up. I don't mind going to the post office. I only put on one or two things a week so I don't get overloaded. It is worth it to me so we can take that trip to Disney every year or so.

P.S. My husband thinks I'm crazy until he see how much money I'm making. Then he thinks I'm great!

Don't sell the guitars- he WILL notice!

This thread is timed just right. I finally actually put our WDW budget on an excel doc. and realized how much more we need to save. So today I started thinking...'what can I sell?'. So that's how it starts, huh?

I have two more months left of the quarter for my sales bonus at work and am planning on maxing that out...(we better make goal or I'm gonna be really ticked). But could use more $$!

So, just what the heck are you all selling that has you addicted?? Is it garage sale kind of stuff?? Or really pricey items?

(Wondering to myself if I have anything worth selling. Do you think DH would miss his RC truck...heck, if he would just stop racing it on the weekends and breaking parts, that alone would add $50-$75 back into our budget!)

I just have to figure out how to get started. I cleaned out every closet, nook and cranny. I have boxes and boxes in my garage. Now what?

Jen is right, you just need to start ransacking the house :D

I live in a townhouse community, which is gated, so we can't just hold a normal garage sale, so Ebay has become my garage sale venue. I have sold clothing, purses, coins etc. Anything I can get my hands on, and haven't used in the last 6 months gets put on sale. My husbands beloved Star Trek Videos sold (don't worry, he now has the DVD's), and I am selling a few more of his items that he doesn't use.

It never hurts to try to sell something once, just remember, what ever price you start with, make sure it will sell reasonably, and that the charges you have with using Ebay makes it worth it. For instance, don't sell a piece of clothing for a dollar, unless you want to only make about .70 cents off of it - you can start at that amount, and put a reserve price for what you WANT the item to sell for. If I don't sell an item after 2 tries, I will try family and friends, and then I give it away - can't say I didn't try that way!;)

I constantly think about what I can sell...especially if it results in a trip to DISNEY :D

I'm getting ready to sell my 200+ collection of Barbies on ebay! (hopefully!) I've already been returning some to stores, with receipts from 6 years ago! ;) Every little bit helps!!! (now if I can just get motivated & start with the ebay stuff...)

Count me in with the nutty group.. :) I opened a special bank account for ebay, just bought a digital camera on half.com, bought a used computer that would be compatible with the camera, purchased "ebay for Dummies", went through every single nook and cranny in the house, and hopefully will start listing within the next week or so..

I'm very nervous about this - afraid I'll do it all wrong - but I'll never know unless I try, right?

I really, really want to go to Disney in December and this is my only hope of coming up with the money, so keep your fingers crossed for ME and I will for YOU - okay? :)
