CCL has really dropped the ball in recent years. My first cruise with them on 2007 was the best. Each subsequent one worse and worse until I just thought I didn't need to cruise EVER. Which is saying a LOT for this ocean dweller. We even have gold status with them, for all the good it will do me. I'm sick of cutbacks (give me a daily sushi bar and then take it away next cruise) endless bean bag tosses, smokey casino thoroughfares and buy buy buy infomercial sleazy style cruising. My first Disney cruise started the obsession back- IN A BIG WAY.My husband's first cruise was for our honeymoon on Carnival. I had such find memories as a kid on these that I inadvertently hyped it too much which caused him to set the bar far too high.
He was quite disappointed and swore of Carnival. We did try it again several years later and it
Was better for him (because now his bar was really low). Then we went on Disney and it was what he expected out of Carnival the first time.
To me--Carnival was the bee's
Knees after sailing on the Emerald Seas. Seemed so much more fancy fancy in my young opinion. I still think their newer ships are good. But I can see why he thought I was describing a very posh experience. Because as a teen, it was to me. Lol.
I have since learned to be careful in "selling" my experiences to him.
As for me-
I like Soarin', but I don't get the love for it.
Thankfully DCL is the answer to a bad CCL. There is ONLY ONE WAY I would ever consider going again, and that MIGHT be because Roatan is JUST GREAT and I don't think Disney goes there. BUT I would have to seriously set myself up for the ports and NOT the cruise experience. And even then, our friends did it last year and they couldn't dock at Roatan!
