Observations, things I saw and wish I didn't

I´m not from the US, I´m from Mexico, my family and I love Disney and we try to go very often. We always visit when is not high season and we have had very good experiences. But for a place that recieves so much people is ovious (I don´t know if it is spell right) to find bad things.
What I think about this post is that this board is here for us to share what we want to share and read what we want to read, so positive or negative you can wright what you want unless it has bad words, or that is what I understand.
I think everybody´s opinion is valid.

C'mon people can't we lighten up?!?!?!? Why does everything around here turn into a dang debate anymore?!?!? :confused3

I found the first post pretty funny as it seems most that have responded to it have too. :teeth:

Plus, you can't help but notice things when someone is line line right in front of you for a while...and her bottom cheeks are sticking out from her tiny shorts.

Were you at MGM on May 22? I think we saw this very same woman. It looked like she was with her DH and a couple kids.DH Joe,DS Erich and our friend Lee were waiting in line for RnR when I saw her first, alot more than I wanted too! We all went :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: Then :rotfl: I could NOT believe the length,or lack there of, her shorts!! OY!!!

People watching is half the fun when at WDW, and of course we make comments to each other. :rolleyes1 We aren't hurting anyone there and we aren't hurting anyone here either.

The OP's comments were WAY less rude than some I have read here. Her comments were not directed at anybody in particular

This is EXACTLY how I feel! :earsboy: I'm getting REALLY tired of all the debating ,fightening or whatever you want to call it, on the TPAS lately. :sad2: We try the best as we can to keep this a fun and FRIENDLY place but you can't please all the people ALL the time. Ya know that's why we have PMs.If you have a problem with something someone said PM them, instead of taking a thread that most people are getting a kick out of and turning it into a debate.:headache:

I'm an Italian...look at my tag. I think I'm going to have to get that Italian Fairy wand out and start using it around here! :earboy2: GEEZ! :wizard:

it always amazes me... the "I'm the only one here" mentallity. Sadly I see it every day. In the people who call on a holiday for same day reservations, or complain they've been trampled when they themselves were stampeding. I can tell by the tone of the complaints listed, you were pushy shovies too. why not go after the crowd shoves its way out of a show or the turnstiles. Then blissfully mosey out without the commotion? And love every minute. I understand everyone doesn't have the luxury of going to MGM every day after their shift to catch the rock'n'rollercoaster or the tower of terror before they go do the grocery shopping (that's the give and take for living on what Disney pays).... but still... think about it. We can clear a whole park in under an hour. How long is it really going to take you to leave a full stuntshow if you just sit and wait a couple seconds and let the throngs pass you by? It is worth loosing track of your favorite person in the whole world just to be first out the gate?
A couple quick bits of advice on this subject...
1. everyone is welcome here. Even pudgy ladies. Even rude teenagers. Yes, even intollerant jerks. Everyone. Be okay with everyone. you'll have a better time.
2. yeah. it's hot. it's florida. please don't think it's hot every day except the day you come. this is a common misunderstanding. it's tropical. duh.
and yes... it will be more crowded if the kids are out of school. you aren't the only one who thought of it. accept it. and yes. we have lines. lots of lines. enjoy them. they're the best lines in the world. I've made many line friends over the years. ..and yes.. the resorts are full if you call for same day, same week,.... really. 98% full every day. would they keep building more if they weren't? Save stress.. book as soon as you know your dates. mod to discounts later.
3. stop trying to do everything. I've lived here all my life and have been in the parks at least three days a week for the past 15 years. I haven't done everything in MK yet. you can't. it isn't possible. it's ever changing and it's designed that way. stop running yourself into exhaustion trying to cover every square inch and get out of everything as soon as it ends. smell the roses! have some vacation with your vacation. it really is what you make it.
4. Disneyworld is my favorite place for ramdom acts of kindness. I'm not the only one performing them. People perform them unto me there regularly. Smiling children bring out the best in most people. There is no people watching in the world like people watching here. Most of the people here have saved for an average of 5 years to be here. Look at their eyes. smile. be the person who stops walking in the way when others are taking pictures. karma works here too.

Cog- Love the name... And I know what you mean, I completely agree with your siggy. *nods knowingly*

Let's face it .... Walt's vision was for folks to leave reality behind ... some do it better than others (hence bikini and poncho on ECV), some do it differently, either way when you go to the parks you are going to see stuff that amazes you (positively or negatively). The trick is to remember that your magical bubble may mingle with someone elses at times and you never know what their bubble will hold. Walt's parks are for everyone, not just Americans. Count these visual aberrations as one of those "nowhere but Disney" experiences and laugh it off! Just my thoughts! :moped: ciao!

UrsulasMyHero - I came back on the board because of the positve PM I received from people and when I read through the thread there are a lot of positive people.
I don't care what size or weight you are, nobody belongs in a bikini at WDW unless you are in the water parks. It doesn't matter how hot it is, a bikini is not appropriate attire. I know all about men you enjoy larger sized woman and that is not what this thread is about. I stated her aprroximate size for people to have a visual, as my dh likes to say, "just because they make it in your size doesn't mean you have to wear it." I agree, she can wear what she wants, but when it is appropriate and soceity today will glare and make comments because it is not appropriate to wear a bikini in WDW or wear one when you are that large. I am not demeaning her just stating a fact.
Let's stop jumping on each other, I can't help what I saw.

topic, but I do beg to differ with you. You are incorrect when you say "NoOne wants to see a person over 300 lbs in a bikini" There are people out there who DO want to see larger women in bikini's. There are entire sites dedicated to BBW Women who look ravishing, wether they are 150lbs or 450lbs. I guarntee you someone out there finds that attractive. Maybe they're not in the Norm, but they're certainly out there.

I understand the point the OP was trying to get aross, however there is no need to demean someone because of their size. So a larger person was wearing a bikini, they have every right, if it offends your sensibilities, do you stand and point? Do you make a public mockery of them? That is what I find rude, while it's done here in a public forum, what if that woman was reading? What if, when she put it on that morning, she thought, "you know, I look good" and then she reads this... she'd be humiliated.

As for the "Overweight Italian Woman" washing in the sink, while I can't condone the policy, mayhaps she was just trying to get cool. *shrug* I feel very sorry for the custodian CM who had to clean up all the water on the floor.

Toenail clippings, I read that as Humerous because I can see it.. I have seen it at other parks, and it's worse when you see them, not with clippers but using their teeth. *Wrinkles nose*

*shrug* To each his own. I stand by my thoughts that the op's post relating to size is rude.[/QUOTE]

Why would someone take a photo of anyone -- much less a perfect stranger -- clipping their toenails, simply to prove they had seen it? Who cares if someone believes it? I get the point of "can you believe I saw ...." and why it would be related to someone, but seriously ..... as you're showing photos from your vacation, you're honestly going to say, "Here's a picture of little Janey with Cinderella, and here's a picture of some total stranger clipping her toenails because we knew you wouldn't believe it if you didn't see it."

:earsboy:

It was you wasn't it? :teeth: J/k But what about the Zurg family? They have a whole website dedicated to bad shoes you see at WDW?

I'm glad that someone posted this because now it just goes to show how the rest of us should behave and make our vacation and everyone elses around us just as memorable! :teeth:

I have to admit, I got quite a giggle from the op. To me, it came across as a lighthearted look at some of the things one might see at WDW. I liked it because the OP didn't rant on and on about how these are her new pet peeves and how coolers, ecv's or toenail clippers should no longer be allowed in the parks. They were observations, nothing more, nothing less. Sadly, it's getting to the point where a person can't post anything because it is going to offend someone. Many times I think the poster doesn't mean to intentionally offend someone, but because the "tone" of a post isn't always accurately interpreted, people take it too literally. It's too bad, because this board has a wealth of information that has been invaluable in my vacation planning.

For what it's worth, though, I personally would be pretty disgusted by anyone washing their body in a public sink, top on or off. Seems rather unhygienic to me.
I don't know why. Would the rest of your body be any less hygenic than your hands immediately after using the toilet? ;)

Just want to add more support to the OP. I did not find the post offensive, rather light hearted observations with visuals. Nothing wrong with that. :flower:

I wasn't being mean, about people's size. Just stating the fact and giving a visual. For your information, I'm no supermodel, but you won't find me in a bikini or standing in a public place w/o a shirt on!
I also didin't write this to make anyone second guess their vacation choice. It's a great place, lot's of fun and magic. hmmm-some good points, but hmmm.

but maybe I'm just a little warped :rotfl2: cause I thought this was really funny. Thanks, OP.

Back in 1998 (I believe) when we were staying at ASSp, there was some sort of gas shortage (to the best of my memory) that created a delay in the resorts being able to heat water, etc. The food courts had cold sandwiches, salads, etc. Not a lot of hot stuff available, including water. In fact, they gave away bottled water. But, the thing that really got us wasn't that there wasn't hot water available for showers, after a hot day at the park a cold shower wasn't half bad. BUT, there was a tour group of people (30+) that were taking baths in the pool. Shampoo, soap, everything. Now me, I take a shower "after" going to the pool to get the clorine off. Can't imagine taking a bath in there. We didn't go back in that pool the rest of the trip.

*****DISCLAIMER***** the only reason I mentioned that it was a tour group was that there are different practices in different cultures and to bathe at all was something of a blessing to everyone else in the long run. Please note that I did NOT mention what nationality was represented. I do not intend to offend anyone of any nationality, gender, creed, race, religion, age, size or intellectual level regardless of their hygenic practices or lack thereof. :earboy2:

Quote from op
"Lastly, the one time we rode the bus we were leaving MGM in the pouring rain. The bus finally comes (after a long wait) and a family with a wheelchair person loads first. Wheelchair person, spouse, grandparents, kids, kid in stoller. Fine, whatever. "
My reply
F.Y.I. It is Disney policy to load people who use evcs and wheelchairs and their families first. It is not their fault that they are loaded first but rather it is for the safety of the bus driver and other guests (in case of a malfuntion or if the evd tips). You are so lucky you only had to ride the bus once during your 9 day stay. :goodvibes
Since I am disabled and we fly to Disney I rent an ECV to get around during our stay. An evc is very heavy and quie difficult to break down and throw in a trunk. Therefore we rely on Disney transportation. I must say the the Disney drivers have been very kind and patient and I am aware it does take a while to load up :hourglass and for those who are waiting I do apologize. But remember even though we are first on the bus take comfort that we are the last off.
Evc users still wait in the same standby lines or use a regular fast pass just like the regular guests. I love evcs they are much better than being pushed around in the wheelchair. It makes me feel a little more independent and less of a burden to my family.
Only 120 more days! :cheer2:

After reading all these posts I just wanted the OP to know that I am of Italian descent and am a big girl! I laughed at your post. I thought it was hysterical. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

And that toe nail clipping thing - ewwwwwww! I take the train every day to work and the worst sound to me is someone clipping their nails, fingers or otherwise. I just know they are jumping into my hair. :earseek: :earseek:

Okay and one gross thing I did see was this woman washing out her little girl's underwear in a drinking fountain at Epcot! OMG I will not let my children drink out water fountains ever again! Meanwhile the kid is standing there with nothing on the bottom and she was maybe like 8 or 9. My daughter would rather die than stand bottomless at WDW (or anywhere else) at that age!

OMG is right!! Drinking fountains have always seemed a little unsanitary to me but after reading this....yuck!!!! :scared1:
