Objectionable items in (and around) Ratatouille **possible spoilers**

Ok, we went and saw it today because our original plans fell through and I had to think quick or have a meltdown. DS6 wasn't very into it, he kept saying he was tired and it was noon. We had a lovely preview of Chuck and Larry with Jessica Biel almost naked, serious gay references, and way more than I wanted to talk about today. Thank godness DS was more interested in eating his "forbidden" snack and not really paying attention.

The movie was ok, DS laughed some, didn't have any idea of what the drinking was, laughed at the Rat's patootie line, said it was very unbelievable, had a good discussion about whether rats could really cook or do what they did in the kitchen.

All in all, the shooting by the old woman was out of hand, the movie was too long, and my son didn't ask any questions about anything except why didn't the rats talk to the man.

But it was not a favorite and I doubt we will be buying it or seeing it again.

Wow! I guess many parents would consider us too permissive for letting our girls watch many of these animated films that some of you view as objectionable.

It will be almost impossible to continue to 'protect' the children from these types of themes, especially as they enter school.

I suppose we always felt that there are some things out there in the world that aren't really that nice but my girls will encounter and I would rather them be aware and understand than be surprised and scared or shocked :confused3

BTW, I do believe that h**l was in Sleeping Beauty too.

Ok - this is interesting - the movie "Transformers" (I remember those toys when I was a kid) is now beating Ratatouille as far as this current week's box office receipts (8 million vs 7 million ). It will also be interesting to see how Ratatouille does in it's second weekend in release - first week it did around
47 million, well below "Cars" 60 million opening.

I think you are right, I'll have to watch it. Interesting, because that is and has always been my favorite Disney movie, and I hadn't remembered that word. Shows how much of an impact it made on me.

I was uncomfortable with the beginning of Happy Feet- good music but THANK GOD my children didn't know what the music was really about:eek:

Sally's tatoo in Cars could have been left out.

Saw Shrek 1 and 2 last week- I liked it but didn't appreciate all the "****" words and didn't like the cat being called p**** and the part where he was licking himself- my kids went on and on about that:sad2:

Childrens movies need to be childrens movies- I don't want them to entertain me I want them to entertain the children in a clean way. Thats my 2 cents worth....

With all respect--that is how kitties bathe. ;)

My children have seen it a million times with our 4 cats.
