Hey guys.. thanks for asking about her
Health wise.. ehh. On a scale of 1-10 I would put her at about a 3. She's struggling with pain breaking past the Morphine and other pain killers and there isn't much more she can safely take. On top of that she ended up with a nasty sinus infection. She's immune to viral infections (can you believe this woman never gets a cold or the flu??.. I guess an overactive immune system does have some privleges) but bacterial infections will knock her out. Mentally she's struggling. She's over the edge and holding on just barely. Her primary doc is working with her and is genuinely very concerned for her well being. He's seeing her on a bi-monthly basis right now and trying mixes of antidepressants to try to help her cope with the pain, her life situation and all the stress added on her.
Work wise.. she has very high moments and then crashing moments filled with anxiety. She had a visit today from her new regional manager (well, new/old - he was her regional 8 yrs ago). They are being EXTREMELY picky right now and basically pushing the blame for astronomical financial losses off on the managers. They did her two local "sister" stores before hitting her store today and both of those managers called Lauri with tales of woe and depression on how bad they were raked over the coals and picked apart.
So Lauri was nervous on how she would do. She worked her rear end off getting ready for this visit right down to scrubbing the stockroom floor on her hands and knees for close to 4 hours yesterday. Like she needed to be doing that.. but.. she's a hard headed redhead- what am I going to do?
Anyway, they showed up.. the RM remembered her right away after only meeting her once 8 yrs ago. They started going through the store on tour and commented on how nice it looked, how clean.. blahh blah. They went in the stockroom and were impressed by how great it was cared for considering she was minus an assistant through the 2 biggest holidays.
He asked her about her problems with HR and the FMLA - she filled him in right down to the lying. He seemed upset over hearing about the lying and said that as far as he knows the situation has been put under review and that if it doesn't work out the next step is to take it into arbitration and then go into a lawyer if that doesn't work. Lauri said he seemed genuinely concerned for her and believes she can do the job and her accomidations are not unreasonable. Lauri's boss did reveal that one of the company's biggest issues is the accomidation to allow Lauri to be off if she has a flare, but even her boss defended her saying that if and when it ever happens it is never much time, maybe an hour or two here and there, not even adding up to a complete day every month and Lauri gets 30 sick days. She even said Lauri only had 1 or 2 full sick days where she didn't come in at all the entire year last year. Anyway, he's keeping in the loop about the situation so I really hope that since he is pretty high up in the chain of command, maybe he will go back to them and says "hey look, this woman is doing a good job, she's capable, she knows what she is doing and you are barking up the wrong tree" they will back off.
So they ended the visit on a very high note. Even though they tore apart the other stores, Lauri did not receive ONE SINGLE negative comment about her store.
Right before they left, Lauri's immediate supervisor asked her if she would help another store in the district in doing a store remodel and also put her in charge of running the store inventories for the central Virginia stores. Umm.. if her own immediate supervisor has this much faith in Lauri and counts on her this much, shouldn't that show the company that the fact that Lauri can't work the last hour and a half the store is open.. a time that they only make less than 2% of the daily sales.. is not that big of a deal?
So that is where she is now. Lauri has been spending her time either working or coming home and crawling into bed with Reilly. I swear I think God put little Apricot Poodles on this planet to be guardian angels to those in desperate need. Especially after we met up with Shugardrawers, her DH and Reilly's twin Petey. Petey clung to his momma just like Reilly does. I have to give it to Reilly. That little dog takes such good care of her and does it so selfishly. He will go all day without food or water to protect her during a flare. He'll just curl up next to her under the blanket with his head laying in her hand. Lauri had a bad flare last weekend and literally slept through it from 6pm on Friday through mid day on Sunday. She literally could not open her eyes or wake up for more than 2 minutes. That dog stuck at her side like glue.
He's definately a good.. good dog.
Oh.. and the babies - of the 5 eggs, 3 hatched. Bumble is HUGE with his big bumble butt. Nicky is catching up and the littlest guy, no official name but Lauri has been calling him Cosmo because she watches too much Fairly Odd Parents has a lot of catching up to do. The first clutch just fully weaned. Beaker is a beautiful Cinnamon Pearl. Kringle is a gorgeous pale solid Cinnamon and Pee Wee is a dark grey Pearl with a bright yellow tail.
Thanks so much for thinking about Lauri. When I tell her, I'm sure she will smile and then say you guys are the best and then probably get all choked up and whap me because it's somehow my fault that she's bawling.
