Hi! We're headed to Disney in a few weeks. We're all excited. Our DD will see Mickey for the first time, she is 3. Our other DD is 6 mo. I'm wondering if anyone knows which rides would or would not fit a very large butt!!!!!

Thanks for your polite replies!

:earsboy: WELCOME to the DIS Brika!!! :earsboy:

You're going to have a wonderful time,3 is a magic age at WDW and the 6mth old will have a good time too! My DSErich was 6 mths his first trip to WDW!

Here is a link to a great website that has all the answers to the questions you might have.http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/ridsiz.htm Disney is pretty much geared to all shapes and sizes. :D

Have a terrific trip!!!

Oh!
Whew! Thanks ladies for the responses and gentle words. I'm feeling better now. Any other "Pooh sized" adults out there care to comment?

Brika,

Welcome to the DIS! :wave2:

We took my DMIL with us two years ago, and she is "Pooh-sized". She had no problems on any of the rides. We did rent her a scooter as she has problems with her legs and other health issues.

The only thing I think she did a little different was some of the turnstyles were a little snug, so she would go sideways, or use the handicap gate instead of the turnstyle. This is not a big deal and did not detract from her experience at all!

Have a great trip with your family!

Pam

As someone who is 26/28 and 5'9" and has done Disney many times-you'll be fine! Disney is one of the most size accessible parks in the world. I can ride all the coasters, and mostly with my 6'3" 2/3x hubby too. Very little gives me problems and I have both bigger tummy and large chested, if it fits me, it will fit most women:) I do go sideways through some turnstiles, not a big deal, all of them have a handicapped gate you can go through if the turnstiles won't work for you. Check out Deb's page www.allearsnet.com for her Walt Disney World at Large section, very helpful. Have a good trip!

I am one of the larger women that go to WDW all the time. I have never had a hard time fitting on the rides. SM, Goofey's barnstormer, Splash Mountain, or BTM. I am over 300 and am a little over 5'8. Large butt, chest and shoulders. Quite a rounded tummy.

that is where i have posted pictures..Click on the Disney Cruise album. Look at ones with Momma and dominique in them

Make sure you get good shoes! If you aren't used to amusement parks it takes a special kind of shoe. Sorry, I know it wasn't what you asked but I thought everyone answered that well enough and shoes and socks are my big pet peeve at WDW. Hurting feet and knees will ruin your day WAY faster than anything else. My FIL is in your situation and has bad knees and he never has any problems with rides, but definately is careful about those shoes. :moped:

You'll do fine. You will also find that the Cast Members are wonderful. I was there 2001, and was tipping the scales at 310. I'm just 5'5 and the only trouble I had were a few turnstiles. Since then, 2003 I had gastric bypass, and am below 200 now. I will go again in 2006 and really the only difference will be I will not be as tired as I was the last time. There are lots of benches and you will probably have to sit it out a few times. Other than that, you'll have a wonderful time. Best of luck!! :flower1:

being plus sized for me going to wdw for the first time was scarry, i didnt know what to expect, driving almost 1000 miles, would my size 24 fit,260 lbs fit any ride, well we got there and I DONE IT ALL. No problems, and you will find lots of larger people there as well, my hubby is a big man as well,3x. This december was our 3rd trip. My 7 yr old and 9 month old loved it.Dont worry about anything and have a great time.Feel free to ask me anything.

I am 26/28 and I fit on everything - I was so pleased. Everyone else mentioned the turnstiles. I am taller than the average, so I kinda walk through them sideways on my tippy-toes so my wide hips & butt don't pose to much of a problem on them!

You will have a great time!

You will fit into every ride. My husband and I are big people and we ride everything. My only tip, make sure your belt fits comfortably before the ride heads out. They have extenders so that you don't feel smushed and uncomfortable. And please don't be shy to ask for one if you feel you really need it!!!

Now if Disney would only update their beds in value and moderate resorts from doubles to queens we would be all set.

Have a wonderful, magical time!!!!

Yep, as everyone else said you should be fine. I am very pooh sized myself and have fit everywhere. The turnstiles are the worst, I do the walk on the toes and turn sideways move LOL! There are gates for strollers/wheelchairs pretty much everywhere that there are turnstiles, you can always use those if the turnstile is too tight a fit.

Comfortable shoes and socks are a must, especially if you are not used to being on your feet all day.

sent op a pm, but i was amazed how i could do all that walking and not at home-lol, you will fit into anything, i did go sideways in some of the tight spots, but you will see all sizes at disney and feel right at home you will have a blast, the straps are not the traditional ones, they are very long and will fit over many bellies with hole to hook them, enjoy and let us know how much fun you had
