Obama's approval is all time high - GOP approval all time low

Guess the minority doesn't like that the majority is happy :)

No one I know has been polled and are very disappointed in his performance so far. It seems as if everytime he opens his mouth on TV the Dow plummets and I would be thrilled if he could just keep his mouth shut for awhile.

This is a strange thread. It starts out with a simple reporting of a poll. The poll results are fact. There is no reason to believe that the poll results are flawed in any way. Strangely, however, several people are denying it's results.

Interesting.

It occurs to me that polls are good in that they help you determine whether people tend to agree with you. This is important because we tend to associate primarily with those that see things as we do. This is why so many of those who deny these results keep coming back with 'all my friends think differently'.

People deny what goes against their beliefs, it's just human nature.

Kind of like:

"There is no way that people could be happy with Obama, because I'm not!!". That's the problem with most modern thinking, it's very self-centered.

Yeah, and if FOX comes out with a poll not in Obama's favor, then I'm sure the libs will be in complete support of those results.

I don't think anyone has stated so far that the poll results are flawed, I'm confident that they are reporting the results they found. I'm just saying that they haven't polled anyone I've been talking to

I don't understand why people think that with a country of 303 million, that when a poll has 1000 people in it, the whole "they didn't poll anyone I've talked to" holds any merit.

I've never been polled, nor do I know of anyone that has been (not that everyone just comes out and calls all their friends and tells them they've been polled...lol). I just don't see where it really matters, it's not like they just made these people up in the polls.

The reason I question the poll is that our local ABC news just reported last night that Obama's approval rating was at the all-time lowest. It seems very strange to me that two similar polls get two completely different results. In fact it is very easy to question a poll. It is a proven fact that polls can be manipulated by how the questions are framed. That is probably why the polls differ. It is also the reason why I put very little weight or thought into polls whether they agree with my view point or not. I think a big reason for polls is simply for ratings so they frame the questions to try to get news worthy results.

Just for giggles, I popped over to Foxnews.com and glanced at the approval ratings that they show for President Obama. They have him at 62.6%, nearly three points higher than the OP's referenced poll.

It should also be noted that the Fox numbers come from averaging other polls. Therefore, I think it would tend to limit any sample size error.

So, they survey 0.0003% of the US population and for some reason you think that number is statiscally relevant?

Interesting, which means that when the numbers aren't in his favor, they should be given credibility. But I won't hold my breath that they will be. :teeth:

These are the same polls that were done for our last President ( Bush )

So I don't understand why so many on this particular thread think that the polls are wrong. Or they didn't poll people that I know, you are probably right but they did poll other people in this country and well thats what they got.

The polls are fact with a small margin of error.

You know I voted for President Obama and I don't agree with everything, I don't think anyone who voted for him will at any given time. He is not perfect in any way but I have faith and so far he has made me very happy (except for a few things) He has been keeping up his end of the bargain to the best of his abilities right now.

Just like those that had voted for our former President didn't agree with him all the time either.

There is so much hatred and negativity towards our new President it astounds me on a daily basis.

This problem that we have as a country isn't going away in the blink of an eye. He inherited it and now he has to fix it. It is not going to happen overnight, you need to give this man a year before you start cutting him down.

I also don't really care about Wallstreet anymore, I really don't. I left my 401K alone, If its there when all the smoke clears then great if not. I'm letting it sit there and do whatever.

I also think the news really has overblown alot lately in the job market. I know its tough out there, but they put people in a panic that isn't needed. Sorry a bit OT

Good to know.
