Obama 'to reverse stem cell ban'

Im against it because it involves killing a human life.

Even tho we are a puddle of 'goo', were still human, and a life.

It's not fair for that potential baby.

But it's not fair for the thousands of people who would benefit from it, either. I hope that doesn't sound mean... lol... I argue about this stuff with anyone.

Size and location don't determine humanity. No amount of promised “benefit” to society or to medical knowledge can justify the killing of a human for spare parts.

It is to my understanding that stem cell experiments/research/whatever may help find cures for some diseases.
If this is true, then I absolutely can not understand why someone wouldn't be in support of it.

To each his own.

The embryos were discarded, as in, not going to be used. A baby will never come of it. Even if there's a tiny chance that it could help cure a devastating disease, I'm all for it.

That embryo is absolutely not a human being. It has no feelings. It is not a person yet. A freaking tree is more alive than an embryo.

How can you not support something that will save thousands, if not millions, of people that are living right now. People who have children, lovers, parents, friends. People who would actually be missed. People who could've changed the world. All for what? So we can just throw away the little puddle of goo anyways?

Yeah, cause that sounds so right.

To Christians, they are life.

juvenial diabetes may be cured by this.

obviously those that don't support it have never been touched by a disease that is CURRENTLY incurable.

I disagree, obviously.

I disagree, obviously.
How do you explain that? It has no brain, therefore no feelings.

I love how you said 'to christians, they are life.' I can feel the passive-aggresiveness just spilling out of that comment.

Once again relying on your religion to back you up in everything. I'd like to see you once give a logically thought out, intelligent defense of your opinion. On every debate thread I've ever seen you post on, all you give is short answers basically saying 'because that's what god says, hmph.'

What does passive-agressiveness mean?

My life is based on what God says.

Read the first sentence of what Jenny wrote, though. They're just going to be thrown away, so shouldn't we put them to good use and save peoples' lives?

Obama's a Christian.

Flame me, but I agree. I'd rather focus on curing things for people who are already alive, than bringing a new life into an already over-populated world. It's we either let an embryo "die" (if I'm not mistaken, an embryo isn't even a life until something like 21 days after conception) or thousands of people die because there was no cure for their disease and treatment failed.

Holy crap we agree! We never agree! :p

I'm very happy with this decision.

If a woman knows that she doesn't want to have more kids or something, I'm completely fine with her donating her embryos to research like this.

I'm in full support of this because of the medical cures that may come of it.

Yeah, ignore me. I'm going to take someone's advice and leave this thread until I calm down.

I get mean when I'm in a bad mood.

I realize that other people aren't going to change their opinions, and neither am I. So, yeah.

Hah I know! I think it's because I'm one of those people that may possibly benefit from stem cell research. Sorry, but the thought that I would die because someone refused to allow "unwanted" fetuses for research infuriates me.
How's your GF by the way?

She's doing a lot better. The Doc says that the Chemo is working faster than it normally does

I disagree, obviously.

first, when the bible you're living your life by was written, the authors didn't know what a fetus WAS.

secondly,
i'm a christian, and an embryo is not a human life. don't think that you get the right to say who lives by the word of god and who doesn't. you're no one to judge.

and third,
if you cannot back up your arguement with anything more than passive aggressive comments, perhaps that reveals the holes in your holier than thou position.

and fourth,
who are you to deny anyone anything that could possibly cure a painful, deadly disease that they have? that is not your decision to make.

God wrote the bible through people. So obviously he knew what fetuses were because after all he created us.

I'm not judging. I'm stating a fact.

And God doesn't want Christians to be arguing about religion. That's why all my statements are passive.

If it involves killing embroys, I'm against it. We are not worthy enough to kill a life for a life.
