How about I make it easy for you to understand.........

The man is a racist pig who just ruined Obama's chance at the White House, or should we call it the Black House?

:sad2:

The thing about racism is that everyone has a different threshold of what is and what isn't. Very few people put their own views in the racist category.

I think the remarks we've heard certainly sound racist and divisive. I won't sink to calling anyone a racist pig.

Why not wait and see on the whole President thing? The nomination won't be decided for a while and November is a heckuva long way away.

I was going to take a previous posters advice and ignore this comment but I just can NOT! To call the White House a Black House surely does show YOUR true colors. If Hillary wins should we call it a Chick House? If you have forgotten let me remind you that this is a positive thread IN SUPPORT of Barack Obama and NOT a bash him one.

Now to marybet...you made my heart smile and my eyes tear. Your words are so sad but so true.

Regarding the Florida delegates...I am a Floridian Democrat and yes I knew my vote would not count towards the Delegates. BUT in case some of you all are not aware there was a very important ammendmant on the ballot this year regarding Fl property tax and people turned out more for that than they did for President. I don't know what the RIGHT thing to do regarding the delegate situation is but the mail in ballot is a complete joke. This Fl girl does not have one ounce of faith that Mr. Republican Gov Christ will make this fair or right. Again, just in case you all don't know him, Christ is one of the men that is frequently seen standing with John Mcain during speeches. There has been some rumor/mention that Gov Christ would be on the list of possible running mates for Mccain.

Gee...Mccain can have him. He has done very little good or postive work since he took office. Its like the previous Governor we had...JEB BUSH...big joke!

One last thing the small text of Obamas speech sang to my heart. The part of ONE AMERICA! This is how I feel and am so HAPPY that he wants this for our Country too. How can we ever move forward will all these lables? Native American, African American, Asian American...are we not all JUST AMERICANS?

So I say to all my fellow dems who are ready for Obama...

JUST AMERICANS...DEMAND CHANGE, ENCOURAGE HOPE and BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!

YES WE CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Chick house :rotfl2: very funny... The other comment I will not comment on as it is too distasteful.

I am familiar that you had the amendment on the ballot and that spurred on voter turnout, but what about people who rent apartments? I'm not that familiar with the amendment, so would people who rent have benefited from voting on the amendment? This is what had me thinking that Florida is one of only 4 states to have lower Democratic turnout than Republican....

I agree COMPLETELY with you about Christ, he'll be McCain's VP if he has anything to say about it....

ONE America, YES we can!

Exactly...renters will NOT benefit from this Ammendmant. It was passed and will lower our property taxes but only if it is a homstead property. So, if it is income property or you own multiple homes you will only get the discount on the primary home that you actually live in.

Florida for some reason unknown to me and my family are very conservative and tend to vote Rep. I have sat and listened to so many people say how much they LOVE John Mccain and all I can think of is the War. I tend to lose focus on any other issue and just think of his comment of being there for a 100 years if we have to be. That scares the heck out of me and I am just so hoping that the Dem party will be able to come together for the good of our Country and quit this crazy hate fest they have for each other.

Hillary or Barack? Thats all we hear. Who cares? So I don't sound ignorant yes I do care but for me its MORE about getting a Democrat in office this time then which one. I personally LOVE Obama and will follow him to the end but if Hillary should some how pull off the nomination I will then rally around and do whatever is necessary to see her in office.

Obama decries rising racial rhetoric
Democrat cites videos of pastor's inflammatory sermons

updated 5:21 p.m. CT, Sat., March. 15, 2008

PLAINFIELD, Ind. - Sen. Barack Obama on Saturday decried "the forces of division" over race that he said are intruding into the Democratic presidential nomination contest.

"We have to come together," he told a town-hall meeting at a high school.

He cited videos of inflammatory sermons given by his pastor that are now being used as political ammunition against him — remarks that Obama has denounced.

If all I knew were those statements I saw on television, I would be shocked," Obama said.

Obama suggested that more and more is being made of racial divisions as his contest with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton heats up.

"I noticed over the last several weeks that the forces of division have started to raise their ugly heads again. And I'm not here to cast blame or point fingers because everybody, you know, senses that there's been this shift," Obama said.

"It reminds me: We've got a tragic history when it comes to race in this country. We've got a lot of pent-up anger and bitterness and misunderstanding. ... This country wants to move beyond these kinds of things."

The Illinois senator's comments came a day after he denounced statements in videos appearing on television and on the Internet of sermons by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, pastor of the Chicago church Obama joined nearly 20 years ago.

Most recently, you heard some statements from my former pastor that were incendiary and that I completely reject, although I knew him and know him as somebody in my church who talked to me about Jesus and family and friendships."

Obama said that pointing out racial differences only makes it harder to "deliver on the big issues we face in this country," which he said include health care, the slumping economy, terrorism and caring better for veterans.

Obama, whose mother's family was from Kansas and his father from Kenya, said he was speaking "as someone who has little pieces of America all in me."

He said schools should do a better job of teaching all students African-American history "because that's part of American history," as well as women's struggle for equality, the history of unions, the role of Hispanics in U.S. and other matters that he suggested aren't given enough attention.

"I want us to have a broad-based history" taught in schools, he said, even including more on "the Holocaust as well as other issues of oppression" around the world.

Obama spoke in the gymnasium of Plainfield High School, near Indianapolis, as he directed his political attention at states beyond the critical April 22 Pennsylvania primary.

"We are going to be campaigning actively in Indiana," Obama said to cheers. Indiana and North Carolina have primaries on May 6, two weeks after Pennsylvania.

I would be okay if they split the Florida delegates, at least both names were on the ballot. I think they need to redo Michigan if they are going to seat the delegates.

I just wonder how the voters really feel about it. They knew the votes weren't going to count. Maybe this election season has proved that being first to vote is not as important as they all thought.

One America, yes WE can.

That's what I was afraid of :sad1: Think of those staying home because their Democratic primary vote did not count (whereas 50% of the GOP vote counted, so there was still motivation).... that's a problem.... Christ demands something be done, but then he refuses to pay and just about refuses every option except this mail in ballot nobody can verify signatures against, it's just wrought with fraud. I'm glad to see that as of late Friday Michigan was putting together a full primary..... I cannot see any fair way to seat the Florida delegates except 50/50.... what else would be fair?

Just to delve a little further into the renter situation - they wouldn't have homes that would benefit from the homestead exemption, but the taxes affected are monies that would go toward schools and fire/police services - so renters may have also voted in large numbers about how those things would impact them.

Carry on. :)

As far as the money going towards or rather being taken away from schools, fire and police that I hope is un-true. When Gov. Christ announced and supported this plan he all but promised that this new property tax discount would NOT take away from these above places.

I do a LOT of volunteer work at my daughters elementary school and on Friday the bookeeper came to me and the school secretary and shared that our school has taken a 10% budget cut. When asked what that would mean for our school next year she replied...no new text books! I was shocked but was told that the school has just purchased all new ones this school year so they would be okay. She also said that if new revised editions came out for next year then they would find another way to trimm off excess. Gee what excess??

Let's all hope that the DNC and Florida will come up with a fair and verifiable way for the Florida voters voices to be heard. It would be very interesting to see who would win now. Another thing that comes to mind is how many mail in ballots that Florida has from residents that only live here part time. How can you truly verify that their ballots are being counted and correctly? And how many people would change their vote now that they know more about the candidates that are left? There were several more people on the ballot back then. I feel the results would and will be much different this time around. Obama might still loose Florida but not by any significant margin.

ONE AMERICA,DEMAND CHANGE, ENCOURAGE HOPE and BELIEVE!

Also, this touch screen has no paper trail so again accountability how can we be 100%???

We picked up 10 extra delegates in Iowa than reported in January!

Obama Nets Ten Delegates In Iowa
CHICAGO – Obama for America campaign manager David Plouffe today released the following statement on the results of the Iowa county conventions:
“Iowans went to the county conventions today to make clear that they want a Democratic nominee who will bring real change to this country and who will be the strongest candidate against John McCain. With all of the results in, Senator Obama earned 25 delegates, while Senator Clinton earned 14. Senator Obama netted ten delegates tonight. For comparison purposes, Senator Clinton netted nine delegates in Ohio.”
Final Pledged Delegate Results
25 Senator Obama
14 Senator Clinton
6 Senator Edwards

And I just noticed we are less than 400 delegates away from clinching! :woohoo:

We are now up by 135 delegates overall and 170 pledged delegates.

Yeh, I did the math, it's looking good :thumbsup2 but I don't necessarily trust what will happen at the convention, it's the cynic in me...

I heard about the extra ten delegates this morning (versus the 7 reported last night), that's great! Which other states have delegates that could move over from Edwards?

And from Rasmussen today, we're on the rise again.....

Sunday, March 16, 2008

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday Barack Obama with a three-point advantage over Hillary Clinton in the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. It’s Obama 47% Clinton 44% (see recent daily results).

Between this and the recent jump of delegates, looks like Pastorgate doesn't have the legs some were praying for.

He got a couple in SC and NH that I know of. :thumbsup2 The fact we picked up 10 more makes it even more vital she wins HUGE in PA. Even a 60-40 win (a blowout) would net her 26 delegates. Not nearly enough.

Anyone know what's going on with MI and FL? I read that a county clerk in MI said a redo there is unlikely and it seems FL has stalled.

The DNC was so stupid to discount those voters.

Dean is only enforcing the election rules that we're voted on by all members of the committee and unanimously passed. What else can he do? Michigan and Florida didn't follow the rules. I'm pissed for the voters too, but it's not the DNC's fault that their states didn't follow the rules.

I'm sure someone has said this already, but this is such a made-up controversy. It's not like these are recent sermons, so it's really not news. And it is just ridiculous to take a few comments out of context from a complete sermon, not to mention out of context from an urban Af-Am community, and then broadcast it as substantial news that's worthy of many hours of cable network debate.

I think what it really points to is that the DNC needs to establish a more solid relationship with each of the state committees. Which was sucessfully done for the mid-term elections, but obviously something fell apart with these states.
