Obama supporters! - A positive place to talk about his campaign

I watched it again to see if I could see what was so upsetting-but I'm still not seeing it. I still think it's funny. :confused3
Excuse me but this is what I hear in the background sometimes when reading this thread:

To the tune of Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic by The Police:

Every little thing she does is tragic
Everything she do just turns me off
Even though her husband once was magic
Now I know my hate for her won't stop
Ok ... the "off/stop" rhyme was a bit of a stretch ... :rotfl:

From the MSNBC / Wall Street Journal poll last week:

National Results:

Obama 44%, McCain 42%
McCain 46% Clinton 44%

Again, this is after all of the Pastor-gate nonsense.

You know, perhaps if she had a smile on her face and had shown any sense of joking it would have been funny. But that is the EXACT tone I take with my kids when they have severely screwed up.... I can guarantee they don't like it. Their goal is not to hear it.

But if she had done that-it would have blown the "April Fools!" aspect! She had to play it seriously to sell it. You never smile until you drop the "April Fool!".

Anyway, I think she's got a good sense of humor, but I can see why she doesn't let it out too often. Too many people miss the joke and it ends up costing her.

I understand.
I think today's April fools was too soon after her Bosnia April Fools, and it just didn't play well with me. Those that find her humor funny on both counts, probably enjoyed it more than I did. Lots of room for interpretation.

Murdoch’s Daughter Hosts Obama Fund-Raiser
"Insert a new twist to the political parlor game that involves following the moves of Rupert Murdoch and his clan: his daughter, Elisabeth, is hosting at her London home a fund-raiser for Senator Barack Obama.

Ms. Murdoch is one of a slew of “event chairs,” which also includes Gwyneth Paltrow, for the April 28 event at Ms. Murdoch’s home in Notting Hill. David Blood, who runs an investment fund with former Vice President Al Gore that specializes in environmentally-friendly companies, is also listed as an “event host.”

A contribution of $2,300 offers access to the V.I.P. reception; attendance to the main event only requires a $1,000 donation."

With sarcasm set VERY high...

They really should have saved enough for said drugs or treatment

Did the Florida legislature actually propose this reduction in transplant drug costs coverage??

Oh yeah, that is not a joke. A Democratic legislator said this is the new Republican plan. Let the sick die and then you save money by not having to pay for them.

I thought it was funny too, but she should've stopped before she got to the gutter part.

I give her an "A" for effort. :thumbsup2

:scared1: How can that happen PARTICULARLY in Florida? Is this well known down there?

No, it's not well known. The stories are breaking now. But many in Florida are not ready to break fully with the Republicans. There are still some true believers around just like there are in the rest of the country.

But, remember, we're talking about Medicaid, not Medicare. There are several generations who have grown up with the idea that the poor are too lazy or too stupid to do anything about their situation. It is very easy to marginalize "those people". We see it all the time on these very boards.

The only thing that is going to break that mentality is what is starting to happen all across the country. The middle class is getting sucked up in the downward spiral financially. When that happens to enough people, politics as usual is over.

HOW TO BE PRESIDENT

At a town hall today, a second-grader asked Obama how exactly one gets the opportunity to run for president.

"Here's what you gotta do," the presidential hopeful told the boy, boiling the process down to few simple steps.

1. "You have to work really hard in school and get really good grades."
2. "Who is this your grandma?" Obama asked the boy. "You have to do everything that grandma tells you to do."
3. "When you get out of school, then you gotta go to college."
4. "After you go to college, you have to hopefully find a job that's helping other people, so that people appreciate that you're helping them, and they'll say that Michael will make a good president some day."

"If you do all those things, then you just might be a president some day," Obama told young Michael. The audience seemed to agree with the recipe, cheering wildly.

Obama, pointing to the boy's grandmother, said he and Michael's grandmother would wait and see if he could pull it off.

:goodvibes

Another good one, although I think we Obamaites already knew this. ;)

PRINCETON, NJ -- A new Gallup Panel survey finds a majority of both Republicans and Democrats saying Barack Obama has a better chance than Hillary Clinton of defeating Republican John McCain in the November presidential election.

The survey was conducted March 24-27, interviewing a nationally representative sample of 1,005 Gallup Panel members. Democrats were asked whether Clinton or Obama has the better chance of defeating McCain in November: 59% say Obama does; 30% say Clinton. Republicans were asked whether McCain has a better chance of defeating Clinton or Obama on Election Day. Sixty-four percent say McCain has a better chance of beating Clinton, compared with only 22% choosing Obama, meaning Republicans view Obama as the more formidable candidate

Implications

Clearly at this point, the party rank-and-file thinks Obama would present a stronger challenge to McCain in the fall than Clinton would. Those attitudes could certainly change over the remainder of the campaign, but it is notable that Obama maintains a wide lead in these perceptions shortly after the Jeremiah Wright controversy knocked his campaign off stride.

Also, the poll shows there is a fairly widely held belief among party supporters -- including a plurality of Clinton supporters -- that the ongoing campaign is hurting their chances of winning in November. It seems unlikely those attitudes would improve much going forward, particularly if the tone of the Democratic campaign remains negative. If so, then it is likely there would be further calls for Clinton to drop out of the race, and that would put more pressure on her to do well in the Pennsylvania primary on April 22 and all the contests that follow.

I wondered who all those people named on Clinton's debt report were. I figured most were campaign staff, who are owed reimbursement. Now, we have this......

Clinton campaign stiffs Girl Scouts for cookies
As people investigated the records they discovered items like unpaid health insurance and money owed to Sen. Clinton's home town high school.

The complete record of unpaid bills can be found at the FEC reporting site.

But only now is the worst of this coming to light. Rebekah Walker and Meagan Gardner are also on that list. They are not caterers though and they aren't an event production company. They are Girl Scouts. They are owed $1,325 by the Clinton campaign and they are plenty angry about it.

"We were so excited about this at first", said Rebekah. "We were helping their campaign by selling them our delicious cookies and delivering it to their building. Meagan even sold them 5 boxes of Do-si-dos she had already promised to her uncle. She heard Senator Clinton liked Do-si-does."

Their volunteer advisor, Jill Sweeney, explained that Girl Scout Cookie season was long over and the money was almost 2 months overdue. The girls were trying to stay positive but it was challenging.

Meagan explained, "One of our mottos is: Girl Scouting is all about leadership." We think Senator Clinton should join the Girl Scouts to learn how to better organize her campaign, pay her debts and treat people better."

Meagan's anger transformed into tears and the interview ended.

:sad2:
