Obama care cost

I have never heard so much whining in my life!

Care to share your costs? Maybe these people have good reason to be "whining", and maybe you should be thankful if you don't.

I read an article that said obamacare might cost 5 times the original price stated when it passed in 2010.
It's not whining. By the way isn't there a thread somewhere that says name calling is bullying? Anyway, for many people, the plan works and for many it doesn't. Those for whom it won't work have every right and reason to complain.

Haven't we done this thread several time already?

Who called someone a name?

Just heard from a relative. His comment after he found out what his cost would be.

"Why am I being forced to pay a much higher cost for less level of service I am getting now."

We're on the winning side of this one. I haven't figured out exactly which plan we'll go with yet, because there's a question I want an answer to first, but we'll be saving between $400-600/mo on our premiums with lower deductibles and co-insurance cost. But we didn't have an employer subsidized plan that has only charged modest year-over-year increases; we were on our own and our premiums have gone up by double-digit percentages more years than not over the last decade.

Prior to the exchanges, we'd have to spend more than 25% of our household income between premiums and deductibles before our insurance paid a single dime. Now an absolute worst-case year, hitting our OOP max, would be around 20% of our income. ETA: That is before the still largely unknown factor of the "cost sharing" that is meant to reduce OOP costs for those at/below 250% FPL. I didn't realize we'd qualify, and that's the area in which I want some questions answered before I choose a plan for my family.

I only wish my employer sponsored plan has only had modest year to year increases, I haven't had less than a triple digit ($200 plus) increase per year in several years. we haven't paid out less than 25% of our net household income on premiums ALONE in years (deductible, co-pays and uncovered services are an additional massive amount), and that's going up dramatically come January, yet because we're under a grandfathered plan we get none of the benefits of better coverage.

I'm glad for those who are experiencing a benefit from this program, but I've yet to encounter anyone personally. I administered a Medicaid program for several years, and based on my experience the bulk of applicants, once they found they would have so much as a $25 share of cost (not a deductible or a premium, just that if they used medical services in an individual month-they had to pay the first $25 and then the remainder of the month's services were covered) would withdraw their applications-saying 'if I can't get it free i'll just just use the e/r and let them try and bill me'. talking to those who still work in the programs finds a similar reaction among those they serve who share that a tax penalty is of no consequence when you haven't filed in years nor intend to. I don't see the program helping as many as intended, and a great deal more people being disadvantaged.

just my opinion.

Because you are now subsidizing the cost of 2-3 others that are not paying what they should be.
