Oak Trail Golf Questions

It is my understanding that we as DVC members we get a free round of golf at Oak Trail course. Is that just for members and immediate families (our minor children) or does it also include guests staying in our room with us (our 15 year old son's 15 year old friend).

We will not be bringing clubs with us. Do they rent or loan clubs?

Is there anything else I need to know? If they charge for the non-family member do they require id? Both boys who would want to golf do not have driver's licenses so don't have picture ids.

And on a non-golf related question - my oldest son is 20, in college and living at home - how long will he be treated as a member? Is it as long as he is our dependent (my middle son is 18, but has disabilities and maybe considered our dependent for life)

DVC was so much easier when the boys were babies!!

Can't help with the golf questions.

Not sure what you mean by "treated as a member". Your son is not a member unless he is listed on the deed as an owner.

If you mean "eligible to purchase a discounted DVC annual pass", the answer is as long as he lives with you and has a photo ID that has your address on it.

I had never heard about the free round at Oak Trail. We played for the first time in Jan. and no mention of a free round. They do rent clubs. It's a cute little 9 hole walking course in OK condition.

If you have a Magic Your Way ticket with the Water Fun and More option, one of the Water Fun and More options may be used for a round of golf at Oak Trail. Currently, the price of a round of golf is $38. The price to rent clubs is $15.00, I think!

I have never heard of this "free golf" either. Sounds like it may be some other type of discount or plan..

Ooops -my bad - yes I meant as part of the water & fun perks. We have Premium annual passes and Magic Your Way Tickets with hopping and Water & fun. So I guess my question is irrelevant because the friend we are bringing along will have the same tickets. Somewhere in my head I switched things around - Thanks!

Yep - that's what I meant. I knew in the past when they were all minors they were part of our DVC member household and were entitled to many of the perks that we were. I didn't know at what point he would become just a "guest". We have thought of letting him take a trip by himself with his friends and didn't know if his ressies would show him as a "member" (or part of a member household) or just someone using a members points - of if there is any real differentiation of those two choices. If we did send him with friends he would still have an annual pass, so wouldn't be purchasing one. Would his room key say "member" and if so would that work for DVC discounts at restaurants that accept them - or would that be hubby and me only with our member cards?

Ah, gee-you had me all excited there for a minute. DH loves to golf, and he's already happy about how much money the DVC golf card has saved him. "Free golf" would really get him! Please tell us after your trip how Oak Trail was. DH played in many years ago with DS (then 9 yo). At that time, he really liked it-it was easy enough for DS (playing his first round) to have a good time, yet hard enough for single digit handicapper DH to have fun/be challenged. Since that was many years ago, however, we'd love to know how it is now.
