Has anyone stayed here lately and can help with some fresh feedback?

http://oakplantationresort.com/

I just reserved a one-bedroom condo for 2 weeks in June for a total of $485 thru Hotwire.

Sounds too good to be true, right? Online reviews are pretty mixed, ranging from excellent to horrible. I travel a lot, have stayed in the best and worst of places and paid much more for all of them so my expectations are directly correlated to price but I'm wondering if even at that price did I pay too much? :)

It's probably a good deal for where it is located. I live in Celebration next to Disney, this is WAY down 192. Probably a good 30 minute drive at least to the parks on a good day...thru a lot of traffic and lights. It's way past the "nicer" areas. Just a head up for you. Hope this helps:)

Not sure how the area is now but I lived there about 15 years ago and it was going downhill when I moved out. Still, it shouldn't be too bad. But as the previous OP stated, it is not right near Disney but about 10 miles east of it on 192. And that 10 miles does take about 30 minutes or more due to the traffic lights.

If you want to avoid all the lights, you can take Hoagland to Dyer to Osceola Parkway. You will have to pay a toll for the parkway but you will bypass all the lights and traffic.

Oh, and don't eat that the Boston Market that is about a block down on 192...it was always on the health inspectors list for violations.

Thanks! We have a Sun Pass and plan on splitting our time between WDW and USO and even going to Cape Canaveral and Daytona Beach so not too concerned about being close to the gate.

I'll be in Orlando in March over spring break so I'll swing by this place and check it out. I might even let them know that I've got a prepaid 2 week reservation in June and am concerned about the negative reviews I've been reading. I know I don't have much room to complain when only paying roughly $35 a night for a condo but maybe the heads up will help ensure they'll put us in a good unit.

LOL! Appreciate the tip!

Not lately, but our very first trip in 2003, we did a split stay -- half camping at Ft. Wilderness and half here. We got a great deal on Orbitz for it. :)

The drive time was horrible. I thought it was so close looking at a map but it really wasn't great. I can't imagine it's gotten better in 15 years.
The washer/dryer in the unit we stayed in was a single unit. You'd put clothes in to both wash and dry. It was small and really slow. BUT it was okay because we'd just put them in and leave for the day. In 15 years THAT *could* have changed. :)

We stayed there a few years ago. It was okay, but nothing special. The area that it is in is not the best. Saw a few "pharmaceutical" transactions at one of the nearby gas stations. Avoided getting gas there next time. That was off property and not part of the area. We did their tour and were told that they were in such high demand that we would never be able to book there. We told the guy three times that we were staying on property, but he didn't listen. The show room was a whole lot nicer than the one we were staying in. Furniture and electronics were much higher quality. After he finally realized we were staying via an RCI exchange, he didn't have much to say after that. :rolleyes1
It does have a nice feel with the oak trees and is not too noisy despite the location. It is a bit of a haul to the parks, but many off site places have that issue as well.
Hope it works out for you!

I can't comment but we stayed at "the Inn at Oak Plantation" which is a separate building and it was by far the worst hotel we have stayed at in Orlando. The rooms were dirty and damp, they advertised two queens but it was a queen and a pull out sofa, everything was in disrepair, we never had enough towels and every time we asked for more it took forever because they had to go to Oak Plantation to get them as the Inn part didn't keep them there. There were ducks sitting on eggs right outside the front desk (which we didn't mind they weren't bothering anything but it just reminded me of Revenge of the Nerds in some weird way)
