Hi there. Due to a pool heater malfunction, we are considering moving to a pool villa in Oak Island Cove vs. using a cold pool in Rolling Hills where we were originally booked. Any comments or info on this particular subdivision? I've read elsewhere something about a major roadway "over top". Has anyone stayed here that could shed some insight? Thanks!

I haven't stayed there but we drove around the subdivision last week when we were staying in Indian Creek because there were a couple of homes I had on my shortlist in Oak Island. The only homes that I probably wouldn't stay in are those that are next to the highway. The rest of the homes were ok. If you get the name of the owner you can go to the tax appraiser site and look at the map of where the house is. I can do it for you if you send me a pm with the info.
:)

We stayed in Oak Island Cove in February. We got a great last minute price of $1000 for the week including pool/spa heat and taxes on a beautiful 5 bedroom 5 bath home. We really enjoyed our stay.

The home was close to the highway and we did hear traffic in our bedroom at night. The lots are small and the landscaping was not as nice as some neighborhoods. The pool was smaller than the houses in Windsor Hills and most of the homes do not have built in spas. Our spa was a stand alone unit on the pool deck.

Our rental in Oak Island Cove was half the price of our rental in Windsor Hills in December. If you don't care about the lack of resort facilities, it is a great option as long as the price is low. I have never been to Rolling Hills so I can't compare it to Oak Island Cove.

Try to get the address and look it up on Google Earth to see how close it is to the highway.

Thank you for your replies! We are going over Easter (8 nights) and the cost will be the same as where we were originally booked (just under $1000, including pool heat) but the home is only a 3-bedroom. That's all we need, though the other home was a 4-bedroom. I obtained the address and did the google earth search. It is on an interior close a ways away from that big highway, so hopefully the road won't be too noisy or intrusive. I wasn't sure whether the whole subdivision was affected.
Just a little scary when you think you have a handle on where you are staying and then, due to circumstances beyond your control, it changes a week before you leave! The management company has been very up-front though, which we do appreciate.
