Oahu resort recommendations besides Aulani?

One thing that does not work is to drive in for a few hours and see if you will like Waikiki. You need to spend a few days and get into the lifestyle. One thing I do like about Waikiki is I do not feel like I am at a resort, after a few days you feel like you belong there.

Last month we stayed at Prince Waikiki which we really enjoyed. It is a short walk from Waikiki beach and the busy areas, as well as being close to Ala Moana beach and Magic Island which are a lot quieter.

We also stayed at Hilton Hawaiian Village but I was a little disappointed with the room. The lagoon and that section of the beach are nice, but these are public areas that you can use anyway. I don't think we used any of the resort facilities that were included, unless you count the towels!
