Hi all
So I did my very first VR this past Tuesday and got a pretty cool medal for it, I plan on doing two more with the same company....racesforawareness.
But my question is, has anyone done them and if so what sites do you use?
I am looking for one that has a run for bullying specifically, but will be interested in just looking just in general for a cause.
TIA
Danielle

I've done a few just to get me motivated to run longer distances since I live where there are very few local races.

I have used willrunforbling.com and charity, willrunforbling.weebly.com (some medals designed after Disney characters), and virtualrunworld.com (they also have some medals designed after Disney).

I also used US road running. I like that they ask you to come back after your run and log in your time. All the others just give you the option to post on their facebook with your information.

If you have any questions about the ones I gave you, let me know. :goodvibes

oh wow thank you for willrunforbling.weebly site, never seen that one.
I did 2 with racesforawareness and i just did one today for virtualrunworld.com for the new medal that comes out in Dec, for make a wish foundation.
doesn't us road running not do any charities? that's the only thing i didn't like, i want to feel like my donation is going somewhere

thank you!!

pixeemom, I'm pretty sure US Road Running does charities, I just think they do it different than most. If you go to their website and scroll down to the bottom under Customer Service is a charities link. It has a list of all the charities they donate and/or support. I don't know if they tell you which one they donate to for each race.

I did find another virtual race website today. it's jostrunning.com. I couldn't resist the October fest one they have up. lol I raced it this evening (38:21) :goodvibes.

I tried to find one specifically for bullying, but I only found one and it was a few months ago. I'll keep an eye out.

I have to say, the virtual runs are getting very addicting for me. I ran two in the past four days. haha I think it will keep me motivated until I can get to do my first Disney one. Hoping for Wine and Dine in 2015 and Princess Glass slipper in 2016.

ahhhh ok, i know there was def. a site that didn't do it for charities maybe i mixed the names up, i even emailed them and they said no charities the money goes to keep the site running...dam i wish i remembered who that was now.

thank you for your help!!!!
i will look at that other one you just mentioned
the only one for bullying I found was with racesforawareness and I emailed them they said something about their medals not being made right etc. and that they will bring it back in the new year, so i am holding out for that one.
thanks for your input!

cindy you should check out racesforawareness, you should see their octoberfest one :lovestruc
and tell me about it
i am hooked on them now, i did 3 so far, but a charity has to catch my eye, me and my friends might to one for Vets. Day

The US Road Running looks like they support more local charities not the big names.

I haven't seen the racesforawareness before....I just registered for the Breast Cancer awareness. haha :thumbsup2

And no problem. :goodvibes I have been looking for one that supports Juvenile Diabetes (DD is type one) but haven't found any. :sad2: If you know of any, let me know.

I love their Octoberfest one! If I didn't already sign up for another one, I would probably have done that one. lol

I currently have four I have to do in the next few weeks and I have my eye one a few more. I want to do a 10k soon (i've only done 5k so far). I have only been running consistently for about 4 weeks. I was running on my tread climber here and there, but it only goes 4mph. I started running outside about a month ago.

I am definitely getting addicted to running. haha

I found this one http://www.active.com/anywhere-fl/r...bike-15-m-or-25-m-for-diabetes-awareness-2014

don't think its for Juvenile Diabetes though, still looking

That's awesome! Are you doing the half or Glass Slipper? I really want to do the Glass Slipper, but I'm nervous to attempt so much running in one weekend. I have time to decide I guess. lol I wanted Tower Of Terror to be my first Disney Race, but that isn't going to happen now. Anyway, Good luck!! :goodvibes I hope you have a great weekend in February!!! I follow the Princess discussion on here so I'm getting lots of information for next year.

I love the Breast Cancer Awareness medal, and I haven't done one for Breast cancer yet. I'm trying to do different charities. There are only a few that have affected me that makes them more personal. I think I need to slow down a little. lol I'll be running 5k's several times a week at this rate.

I am going for a short trip so me and my friends just signed up for the 1.2
I did the very first ToT race and I told my husband I def. need to do at least 1 half marathon in Disney and this was perfect, and he told me to go for it, I am very nervous though because I also signed up to be put in a lottery for the NYC half marathon which is 3 weeks after the Princess one, lol yikes!!!
oh well
I have to admit I love the bling to!!!

and if its for charity, doing a 5k several times a week is great training!
do you use any apps when you run?

I also on the forum to but its soooo long I just skim through a lot, I am on one on FB to for the PHM

Thank you!! If I can't find one specifically for Juvenile Diabetes, that one might be the one I sign up for.

I think I will make it my first 10k since it has so much meaning for me. My DD was diagnosed at 15 and is almost 21. She has handled it so well, much better than I ever could. She is such an inspiration for me. She has only ever had one bad day in which she let herself feel sorry for herself and that was very early on. Now its just another part of her life. She also takes so good care of herself and keeps her blood sugar in check. Can you tell how proud I am of her? hahahaha :)

aww well I am sorry that your daughter has JV but it sounds like she is doing well, especially with the love and support I hear in your words!
:flower3: princess:

Two half marathons in three weeks....that's awesome!! I'm sure you would do great. It gives you enough time to recover in between.

I have a garmin that I use on each run. I sometimes use the run/walk times, but I mainly run until I need a break then walk for a little bit. I have noticed I am running more and walking less the last few times I went out. I run around my neighborhood which has a few hills. Last weekend I ran on a rails for trails that is mainly flat and did a 11:10 mile. That's my best so far. lol

yes, enough rest time and no training, yay!!!! lol

that's great, 11:10!!! awesome
I use my phone for now, but I want to treat myself to a garmin, for all my training and races i never used intervals, but this past 1.2 I trained using intervals and omg i loveeeeeeeeee it.....but i don't walk the walk i slow my pace down and trot....so i run 2 mins then trot 1 min.
i was able to keep my pace and end the half at my normal time 2 hours and 1 min.

Thank you. :) My biggest problem is I push myself to hard I think. haha I'm always trying to get a PR. I love my garmin. It really helps me keep track of my times. Once I sign up for a 1.2, ill probably follow some kind of training program. Right now I just need to get in shape and build up my endurance. lol

2 hours and 1 minute, that's great! :worship: I hope to be able to do that some day. haha
