Anyone been to Atlantis?

Anyone stayed at the Comfort Suites next door?

Advice appreciated!

We stayed at the Atlantis before it's expansion. We visited almost 2 years ago while on a cruise and were totally confused by the expansion. I think it's too big now. If we were to return, I'd definately stay at the Comfort Suites. It recieved 3 stars on Expedia and most reveiws said it was clean and comfortable, but not luxury. I guess it depends upon how much time you will spend in the room and how pampered you want to be.

Definetly Stay at comfort suites if your okay with a moderate hotel. It will save time and money. Atlantis is wonderful. But to BIG in my opinion. Use Atlantis during the day as your destination but walk back across the road to sleep.

You can probably get a few more comments if you post this on the Disney Cruise forum. A lot of people over there use Comfort Suites to get a cheaper day pass to the Atlantis.

The comfort suites is very basic. But, clean, well kept and safe. There is a free continental breakfast which is good but plain. It did the job for us though. It is literally right next door to the Atlantis.

The Atlantis was amazing. Yes, it's big. So is Disney World. You go knowing this and plan for it. Try a different pool everyday (there are plenty). Ride the water slides. The lazy river is amazing and at a few places not so lazy. The aquarium, the dig, the web cafe, the restaurants, the art. It's all so amazing. You are treated just like an Atlantis guest. Just show your card and get a wrist band and no one knows where you started from.

We would leave our room in the morning and not go back until we needed to shower for dinner. We'd just reapply sunscreen in one of the spacious bathrooms. Then, we'd head right back to the Atlantis for dinner. Alot of the chairs have nice big awnings that go up and down so you can be in the shade or the sun, your choice.

My DH and I went for our anniversary and can't wait to bring our boys back in 2011.

Food is very expensive, simple stuff like a burger will throw you back $15. so be prepared if you eat there!
whatever you do don't forget sunscreen, try $20 for a regular size bottle, and they say Disney is expensive :lmao:

We do atlantis two times per year... our 2nd most frequent place to visit after the Diz. What a GREAT family destination atlantis is. We love it. Comfort is a fine option and nice money saver. All the same goodies as staying on site. We stay at the Haborside Resorts, a timeshare condo linked to Atlantis. We rent from timeshare owners who can't use their weeks and get them at a nice rate. At the condos we cook our own grub, as kitchen is in the room. look at vrbo or redweek

We were there 6 months ago and stayed in the coral towers of Atlantis. The place is incredible. I do agree with other posters, it is huge. We found that to leave our room & go to the pool we liked the most was about a 20 min walk... as long as you knew which direction to head! It's a pretty complicated place but I REALLY liked staying on site. The underground aquariums were amazing. The kids' pool & play structure was amazing. We all loved the river ride. We did the shark tank tube ride & loved it too.

I also loved the marina village. We had dinner at Bimini road. The seafood was great & I didn't find it all that expensive. I loved the Atlantis ambiance. Men playing steel drums, live music, pretty lights of the marina... OK, now I want to go back.

No idea what it would be like to stay at the Comfort Suites, but what I do know is that my family enjoyed having the run of Atlantis. There was something to do around every corner.

Have fun:lovestruc

I highly recommend the Atlantis dining plan if staying at Atlantis. It includes breakfast and dinner and we found the 2 meals to be more than enough. Do not miss the marketplace buffet, it was fantastic!
Loved the Atlantis, stayed in the Beach Towers and loved it!

I've enjoyed reading everyone's reviews of atlantis. We are planning a cruise for Septemeber and one of the stops is in nassau, and we were thinking atlantis would be a nice realzing way to spend the day as we are doing sight seeing excursions on the other 2 stops. Is it relaxing, or is it to crowded to enjoy. It will be me(24) and DH(28)

I would not call it relaxing, per say. Its main attraction is a waterpark and casino, niether of which is relaxing. They have a great kids pool area called Splashers, many thrill waterslides, and many smallish waterslids appropriate for kids. Of the beaches, I'd say the Cove beach is the most relaxing and uncrowded. On the other beaches there are lots of people and jet ski rentals, etc. For guests staying there, a daily list of events is provided. Some are free, others are extra charge. The menu of events is much like cruise ship stuff, silly games at a pool for token prizes, free first-run movies, kid make their own remote control car for a fee, etc. Aquariums are unreal. Has to be some of the best collections of fish on the planet. As noted, food is remarkable expensive. A deli sandwich and fries at Murry's Deli will run you $18 or so. One slice of pizza from the pizza shop is $7. A 12 oz can of beer would be about $5. If you are staying there, have the cabbie stop at the grocery store on the way in and buy food and drink.

I did ride the water slides and enjoy the lazy river, aquarium etc. But all my other time was spent in a beach chair, ice cold drink in hand, with a book reading. I was there with DH and we were there to relax. It was so nice to sit in a chair and read. They do pipe music in but you can find places where it isn't loud. If you want to relax, you can.

We are taking a cruise this March. How busy is mid march for those who have stayed. To save money we hoped to purchase ticket at the main desk for a day at Atlantis. Anyone seen them stop selling tickets?
Thanks! :thumbsup2

Can you use other facilites at Atlantis, tennis courts?? Do they provide rackets and balls?

Does anyone know the cost of a taxi from the airport to Comfort Suites? Not sure it is worth to take the bus offered by Expedia for $200 there and back for the 4 of us??
