O.K...I did it..I booked AKL Standard Pool for May!

Hoping to get an AP rate eventually of course. Can anyone tell me what they got for standard Pool View last year?

Also, she said we could not be guaranteed a king bed but that they would put in a request. Anyone request a king bed and NOT get one?

I think they only have like 60 or 70 king rooms in the resort (i think that's what the bellmen told us when we checked it.) We had a king on our honeymoon but 2 doubles on our most recent trip. so just be prepared when you might not get it.

DH likes the extra bed...it's just the "drop your crap here" holder for the week. heheh

Pool view this April for $195/night for 6 nights plus $10 more for a fridge.

I had a standard pool view (3030) in August. I had a rate that won't happen again, less than 135 with tax. I loved the room, I loved the pool view. We were on the wing that is right off the lobby, turn right after the gift shop. We could see part of the savanah in the distance, had no problems with noise save for Friday night till about 10 pm. I love the AKL, it is so peaceful. Oh our room had a queen and bunk beds. Exactly what we requested on our reservation.

The AP rate for last year from 04/28/03 to 07/03/03 for the AKL were as follows:

$124 Standard
$201 Savannah View
$280 Deluxe Savannah View
$365 Concierge

Don't know if it's extra for pool view or where that actually fits into the equation.

We had booked a standard room in November and got upgraded to a pool view, and it did have a king bed, which we had originally asked for with the standard view. We were in room 4468 on the Zebra trail. It took us a good 5 mins. to hike there from the lobby, but the view from that room was incredible. We were overlooking the Uzima pool. There was no noise (as we were up 4 floors) from outside and from our balcony we watched fabulous sunsets over the Giraffe Trail rooms, which were facing us on the opposite side of the pool. I have pictures of both the room and the view. Let me know if you're interested and I'll email them to you!
