O.K. in the past I have always flown SW(and still do!) but have recently traveled on Song and Jet Blue.....loved them both. Well typically we travel on non school vacation weeks so we never worry too much about our flights. WELL this year we will be going down to Florida 1 week before our school vacation however, we are staying 2 weeks SO that makes our return date the same as school vacation.....the Sat. after Easter!! Yikes!!

Now, here's my dilemma......Song will release my outbound flights this Thursday(331 days in advance) and I will most likely be able to get $79 one way but I KNOW that Song will have the return flight way up in the $200's...as they always do for school vacation weeks! Now, I have heard that once SW and Jet Blue release their fares song will typically drop their fares.

So I do not know what to do!!!! Book Song? Wait for Jet Blue? Or wait for SW and play their game! LOL Song and Jet Blue both fly from Boston but SW does not. I could book Song down and then in Jet Blue has a better fare for the return we could book them(same airport) but SW will not be an option!

OHHHH what to do!! LOL Can you tell I am rambling on and on!!

Any advice?

Hi - We are kind of in a similar boat. We are going February 14 - 25th. Unfortunately, the 25th is the end weekend of President's Week so the rates are still very high.

What I did was book Song for $79 each out of Boston for the 14th when those rates were released. I am now waiting for the return flight to drop in price before I book it. I also have a credit on JetBlue that I'd like to use so I am waiting for them to release the dates for February and hope they are less than Song which is currently something like $224 each.

Since Song, JetBlue and Southwest all allow you to book one way tickets, there really isn't a problem waiting and flying one down and another one back.

I'm not going to worry too much, though, because we did the same thing this year for a cruise during Feb. school vacation. I was convinced I would pay through the nose for the flights, but wound up finding a $74 rate direct on American Airlines in November. I just waited until JetBlue, Song and Southwest released their fares. That's when they all dropped.

So, I guess my advice is that I personally would wait until the other airlines reduce their rates. If JetBlue's rates are great for the outbound then I'd just book that and wait on the return flight.

Hope this helps.

Happy planning!

great..thanks. The problem I have with the different airlines is Song and Jetblue fly from Boston but SW does not....hence my car issue. I may just have my Mom give us a ride to the airport and have someone pick us up as well so that we could fly out of Boston and into a different airport if necessary!

Oh the joys of travel! LOL

See my reply in your other thread. From Worcester, you could take a shuttle, car or limo service to either Logan or Green. Most companies will pick up at one and drop at the other. Doing it this way will give you the most flexability.

Of course, the relative driving you is the cheapest alternative.

OOPS!! Just realized that I double posted! LOL I think I will do what you suggested....book Song and either have family drive us or the shuttle!

Thanks!
