O Canada at Epcot

My family caught the new O'Canada movie on Saturday, the first day it officially opened. We had walked by the pavillion in the early afternoon and got lucky when I asked a cast member if the movie was playing and she told us today was actually the first day of the new movie.

We all liked the movie, especially the addition of Martin Short, the new song, and new scenes. I know I thought it was an improvement over the first film. They did a good job of adding Martin Short to the film to add some humor and spice without taking away from the overall film. The new song stuck in my head for the entire day.

Overall it is a great film. After viewing Canada, France and China's films I would have to say that Canada is by far the best now.

We saw it on opening day as well. We thought it was fantastic! You can almost see that they said "Hey, this is Disney - let's have fun with this thing" - unlike the old movie that was informative and beautiful, but no spark. Martin Short was great (there's a bit about Celine Dion that is especially funny) - we just loved the whole thing. You could tell that all the people leaving the theater really loved it. All you canadians out there will be very proud!!

Hi all, we went to see it at the first showing in the morning of Sept. 2nd. We were very excited since we are Canadian! It was very well done, although it tends to show a lot more from the West Coast and Central Canada than from anywhere else. One of the CM, actually went and printed us off a list of all the scenes while we were in there since we asked so many questions about it ahead of time. Martin Short is very funny and very much Canadian.

I thought I might share the list of scenes with you:

Wow! I loved the old film - especially the "mounties"! In fact, it prompted us to book a vacation to Canada.

I'll be anxious to see the new version. Like another poster above, hearing that Martin Short is in it, makes me feel uneasy. Glad to hear he's a nice addition and not a distraction...

The movie is opened and it is good. I just wish when it gets to the part where it shows the celebrities that it would put names with them. They go by so fast that it is hard to recoginize everyone.

Will go and see it when we get there on the 19th.

the weekend after it opened and it is way better than the first one for sure
i foudn the first one boring and the second one my head couldn;t stop moving it was great. i feel like i am back in canada when i go to see it now.

Being from Atlantic Canada, I was disappointed with the new video.

The only scenes of Atlantic Canada (3 in total) were of the Bluenose sailing, a fishing shanty in Newfoundland and the Bay of Fundy Tides in New Brunswick.

For anyone not familiar with Atlantic Canada you would be left to believe that it is all rural, fishing communities which is absolutely not the case.

Why no scenes of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Atlantic Canada's largest urban city?

Why no scenes whatsoever of Prince Edward Island, which has to be one of the most unique and beautiful places in the country and one of the biggest draws for tourists for summer travel?

Don't get me wrong - for the parts of Canada featured in the video it was great. However, I think many regions (particularly Atlantic Canada) was overlooked.

Actually there were four scenes from Atlantic Canada (see post #24 for details) with one from PEI of wheat fields. You are right though. Atlantic Canada is pretty overlooked. One of the CMs in the Canadian Pavilion who was from Newfoundland told us to write to our Department of Tourism because they funded it. Overall though, we were quite impressed with the new film!
