Does anyone know how up-to-date the medical facility is on the ship? I mean is it set up like an ER or a dr office? Curious to know if there is oxygen available onboard. Anyone know this...? TIA

Kathy

I would certainly assume they carry oxygen as it is very portable. I know they have xray technology. They are not equiped to major surgery but the medical staff certainly can handle many issues on the caliber of a small ER. If you have any concerns I would run them by DCL to make sure that they will be able to address them.

TY very much for the info, that is what I thought, but wasn't sure.

My first two days on board on our last DCL cruise were spent using a nebulizer courtesy the ship's doctor...$$$$$$$$$$ It was very expensive, but well worth it.

It turned out that I had a terrible bronchial infection, but they had inhalers, nebulizers, and the MUCH appreciated Zythrimax (sp?)...

I was much improved by the end of day 2 and enjoyed every bit of my cruise. They seemed knowledgeable and were very kind. Not sure about o2, but all of my respiratory problems were taken care of...hope this helps a little.

Was wondering if I can bring my daughter's nebulizer onboard? Do you see this being a problem? Am planning on bringing some meds for her as well. I work at a pediatrician's office and thanks to the drug reps we are well stocked!

My dad brought his nebulizer, since it is a necessity for him. Make sure you fill out a medical report before boarding. You may need a release signed by a doctor.

That is correct in saying that you need a doctors signature...I understand it that if you take any meds aboard~ they have to be in the original bottles , and some suggest taking along a signed note from the dr w/ tele #.

I've taken meds along on every cruise with us and have never had any kind of problems. They have either been in our carry ons or in my checked bags if they're only brought for "just in case". DCL has never questioned me or anything in regards to any of our meds.
