I feel compelled to point out that I don't wear "tube socks." They're Gap crews (here:http://www.gap.com/asp/Product.asp?wdid=109820&wpid=162151). The fashion section of the Times would have got that right.

Regardless, if they were pulled up your calves, that would be a faux pas. One must wear ankle height socks only. Use sunscreen to prevent the reflective leg burn!!!!

They're casually scrunched to just above ankle height. I thought they looked sufficiently relaxed. The tan on my legs, however, can best be described as "translucent." Apparently that's the cumulative effect of all those years in computer science. (And did anyone else notice the word GEEK in the URL? LOL!)

My wife, upon reading the article, is now making an emergency trip to the Gap to get ankle socks. So I should be set for Mousefest next week.

The Times most certainly does proof read. That's an intentional pun---something that the Times often does not do.
