It's actually a Picnic Aisling...

where Akita owners bring their dogs to a BBQ type event.

Akita Rescues are represented there.

Mika's breeder is being recongnized as a HUGE help in the saving of Akitas from shelters and finding them foster and permanent homes. The link in my sig is the one Jo and Matt work for. If you look at the pictures of "Juju" John's best friend Matt is holding and playing with him. They saved Juju from starvation. He came to them at 45 pounds - Juju should have been 120 and almost died. When I last checked Juju is 105 pounds and being adopted by those same friends.

The rescue already approved us for adoption, we just have to wait for a baby Akita to become available.

I guess it's going to be bitter-sweet, Tigg but I hope you both have a good time... I'm currently addicted to looking at puppies online! We're hoping to get a new Boxer baby later in the year but I cannot stop trawling the internet and ogling the little beauties...

I just saw on the news that there was a horrific train accident in Los Angeles. Very sad.

I'm about to call and take Mel's name off the cruise, and make my payment in full. I also have to cancel his plane ticket, but at least I'll have that credit in my Jetblue account.

Poor Anjelica is going to have to make a lot of changes to the website.

Jill, please take Mel's name off the first page list.

I just got out of the gym. It's a humid, uncomfortable day here. I'm staying inside today, with the air conditioning on full blast. Having the windows open makes the house feel so damp. Tomorrow it's going to be 89 degrees. Where's autumn??

John cried but would never admit it

I was happy to see all the Akitas but upset because we no longer have ours.

We talked to a foster mom who has two (pretty much) blind akita puppies. One has had extensive leg surgery on top of the fact that he's blind. They are so cute~ I am not sure if we'll go with one of those, ultimately the one we choose will be John's choice. He's gonna research how to handle a blind dog via blinddogs.com.

I got some awesome pictures and got to see our friends and their kids...that was the good part from today~

A blind puppy would be do-able, IMO Tigg. We have a 100% deaf Dalmatian and have managed to train her really well - we use lots of hand signals plus she is smart and able to interpret our facial expressions brilliantly. Also she takes so many cues from our other dog - they help each other out... Certainly, I wouldn't be put off having another deaf dog...

Oh, I totally agree! I was asking John last night what he thought about adopting one of them. He says we'll see. It's ultimately the Foster Mom's and John's choice. I know we could handle it~Their Foster Mom says you would never know they are blind by the way they play.

That one is full grown and already has a home.

We were offered a four month old today. His family is looking for a new home because the son is apparantly allergic to pet hair. He's not definite yet-just a very good possibilty. The philly rescue lady says we need to find one that matches Penny's hair color like Mika did

Thanks for the update Angelica.

Did everyone get their excursions and palo that they wanted? I saw Artman did. Since we didn't want anything, I didn't pay off the cruise yet. I'll wait till the last minute to finish paying it off.

The winds are really bad here today and tonight. We had a tree fall into our pool. Didn't damage the pool(inground), but bent the fence that is surrounding it. Guess we will take pics and call insurance in the morning.

I did all our online registering this weekend!!

We're just waiting, and waiting, and waiting for our booking window to open.
Although I admit I've been known to impatiently wait for the big day, only to totally forget and not log onto the DCL site until days later.
I'm sure DS won't let me forget this time though since it happens to be on his birthday.

We have family members who are trying to decide between Chankanaab and Dolphinaris. Any insights on one over the other Artman? I see you guys picked Dolphinaris.

I know I haven't been around for long, but it looks to me like we need to make a no more cancellations rule on this thread. I hate to see folks drop off the list.

We have never done a dolphin swim, this looked like a great opportunity. You actually get in the water with the dolphins, not just petting them from a platform. Also as ohioworkingmom said it is close to the port and not an all day exc., so we will have time to look around town.

Hi All...you sure were all chatty this weekend....i was busy with FB (which SF won by the way).....Ryan's senior portraits on the beach...laundry...housework...shopping...lots of thank yous to write...so stayed offline quite a bit so i could get more done..

Tig....Mexican Riviera includes stops at Puerta Vallarta, Mazatlan & Cabo San Lucas....all nice places...

Artie...we "swam" with the dolphins on our 1st DCL in PV Mexico...IT WAS a very cool experience....you had the option of an encounter (from the dock or the swim - in the water)....so glad we chose the swim...

Aisling...I am SO sorry to hear that Mel has canceled....but hey - we'll have each other to hang with AND will be JUST fine...our ressie day is 9/28...
also, Thanks to Chad for posting his Ground Zero photos...I did watch "102 Minutes that Changed America" over the wkend....all that footage is just so incredibly sad...angering....and just downright unbelievable...
