Ok, question for the girls AND the guys:

I bought these shoes, but now because of the bow I'm thinking they may be too "young" for me. Opinions? What age would be too old to wear these?

Good Morning, Magic Mateys,

Yesterday's end-of-class party went so well. I'm happy to report that I didn't have one drop of ice cream, so the diet was safe. It helps that I'm lactose intolerant! I just filled up on diet soda, and was fine. I received so many lovely gifts, and I especially loved the $50 gift card to...MACYS! Those parents know me well! I went to Clares and bought each girl a small sparkly cross on a chain, and each boy got a masculine-looking metal cross on a leather neckrope. They were so appreciative. I'll miss them.

From the Principal I got a heart locket with praying hands engraved on it, and I had each child kiss their finger and put the kiss inside the locket. I know, I'm so corny, but sentimental.

Today I have a meeting with Jesse's guidance counselor. He's doing outstanding in all his humanities classes (Italian, English, Global History, Drama), but is having trouble with chem and math. The chem isn't too bad, but he's getting 70s on exams. With the math, he goes up and down. We made a mistake I think of having him in accelerated math when he was doing A Plus work last year, but I think is has become too much for him. It's too late to anything about it now, as he's preparing for the state exams, a year ahead of schedule, but I want to make sure his program for next school year is more humanities-based, as that's what he's interested in studying in college. He will take physics, though, as he was in a voluntary summer program for physics and he took to it very naturally. He's in an excellent school, and the counselors work very well with parents to properly prepare kids for their college interests. So I'm looking forward to this meeting this afternoon.

I lost a $2 bet last night to Chad, when we bet on who'd win American Idol. But he took advantage of me, as I hadn't even watched one show, and had no idea who the finalists were! That kid's a hustler!

Raining again today, but good for my little patch of lawn. The landscaper came yesterday, and it looks so good. We're pathetic in my family, as my "lawn" is 6X12 but it's still too much trouble for anyone to roll out the lawnmower, or even just the wacker. It would take probably 5 minutes to do, but Mel would rather pay a landscaper to do it.

Brenda, are you all set for your trip to Iowa?

morning all!!! just getting caught up....i am SOOOO sad that my little david archuleta didn't win Idol...i thought FOR SURE he would. David Cook is terrific as well...but he's older - already has a really great style all his own...& would have gotten picked up by someone asap with the exposure idol gave him. David A - being so young would have really benefitted from the Idol experience more than Cook i believe! but they will both do wonderfully well i'm sure!

Aisling...the pink shoes are fine for you! what are you wearing them with? I'm ready for my trip...but NOT packed - not one thing....oh well - i have all of tonite. Last night i got all the laundry done.

Just ordered a few more things for the Italy trip from Chicos....i think i'm all set for Italy now....& i think Ryan is too - except maybe a pair of nice leather walking sandals....

catch ya'll later! have a great thursday....

Anyone have any idea what temps. we can expect during the cruise. Will we need to pack a sweater for the evenings?

I remember a couple evenings being very windy and cool outdoors...the other thing is, I also remember the restaurants being a bit cool at night - you may need your sweater for dinner if you tend to be chilly. The guys seemed comfortable in their jackets.

Aisling, those shoes are so you!

You could play off the white or the pink -
maybe use them with an informal Palo dress?

Not much longer, huh Brenda!

Just doin a run thru...I'll be back later to chat :car:

Aisling, I think the shoes are very nice. It amazes me how you girls can get your feet in those narrow pointy things. It makes me very happy that I was born with the male equipment, and get to wear sensible shoes. :goodvibes
I have asked Claudia many times as we left the house, "Are those shoes comfortable" She says "No, but aren't they cute!" :cutie:

Hey, I thought you were the same age as me, and 25 is definately not too old. Do you have something that goes with them?

hiya claudia! let's go together for the parasailing!
dresses....did anyone watch American Idol tues night? I SOOOO want Syesha's short black / silver sparkly dress....humm - wonder if that's hers or something AI will auction off on Ebay for Idol gives back.....

I'm a little behind in my reading again. I had a nice long 5 day weekend. Ahhhh, all relaxed. Anyway, we should get a group together for parasailing. Artie wants to go too and I think me and Owen could go double. If a bunch of us go we can all hold hands and pray before we take flight:grouphug:
Can you drink on these excursions? I might need one or two before lift off.:scared1:

We can DO ANYTHING we want...as long as we don't get caught!!! :rotfl:

We are on fire out here~literally the Santa Cruz mtns are burning - have been since 5:20 this am. Our office & processing bldgs are nothing but smoke & HEAVY ash...it is NOT a good thing....they are evacuating homes, schools, everything...watch the news - you'll see us & our beautiful mtns wild with fire:sad1:

Fire officials said a wildfire burning in the Santa Cruz Mountains has grown to about 3,000 acres. The fire is expected to grow to 10,000 acres.

More than 500 firefighters are on the scene of the blazing working to contain the fire.

At least four firefighting helicopters and four air tankers are on the scene battling the blaze

Hey, I thought you were the same age as me, and 25 is definately not too old. Do you have something that goes with them?

I wore them once to a bridal shower brunch, with straight-leg white linen pants/slacks and a pale pink cashmere cardigan with 3/4 sleeves. I'm just going through my shoes/clothes and trying to decide if I can still get away with some of the youngish styles. A couple of my girlfriends think the shoes are fine, but they both dress straight from Sex in the City at ages 40 and 45! I think I'll hold on to them.

Brenda, I have had FOX news on since I got home about an hour ago, and no word on the fires!!! I'm going to channel surf and see if I can find something about it. I'm always glued to the TV when these things happen, as I'm amazed how harsh mother nature can be sometimes. I hope it can be put out soon, but I know these fires can last a while. Be safe!

Going to have a bite to eat. BBL!

And Artman, see what we girls have to go through to be cute!:rotfl: The secret is to kick off the shoes under the dinner table!

OMG that fire is VERY serious! There's a woman reporting from Watsonville! Brenda, you've mentioned that place several times! They said the worst is yet to come. I had no idea it was that bad. Watching now.

Yeah - it's not good at all...Watsonville is where Ryan goes to school (it's been cancelled for tomorrow) & i pass thru Watsonville to get to work in Moss Landing...i had to come home a different route as did ryan - the highway near the Mt Madonna Park where the fire is heavy is the highway we take - it cuts thru the mtns.....if you're seeing any of Corralitos - that is where Ryan's Elem / Jr High is at (Salesian's) - it closed today at 9 am...
it's just all so sad...i have some friends up in that area....just hoping & praying they are all okay

It's still burning & out of control....they are working hard to get it contained....but not sure if they can tonite before dark falls...FORTUNATELy there is some expected weather changes that should work in favor with the firefighters & maybe even some precipitation. so far, 10 homes destroyed &1500 families evacuated but fortunately NO injuries or fatalities...that's a good thing!!!

As of 7:02 am Santa Cruz time, they're saying the fire is only 20% contained, and 5 square miles have already been burned. This is from FOX News.

Two tornadoes in Riverside County, and mudslides in Orange County. What the heck is happening? Isn't this unusual for this time of year in California?

the 7am local update:
"Firefighters on the front lines of the Summit Fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains are looking at better conditions to battle the fire today.

Overnight, a marine layer moving into the region brought some moisture into the area."

The fire season is about a month early - all due to the HOT dry weather we've had...the tornadoes down in Riverside Cty seems a little unusual to me & the mudslides always occur when there is too much rain...which is unsual for May...our 'rainy' season is the winter months....

we haven't had a 'wildfire' of this magnitude for 2-3 years...that one was on the Gilroy side of the SC mtns - so it was closer to us....but we definitely have some darn good firefighters & they come from all over Calif. Ahhhhrnold (I mean Gov Swarzenegger) will be here today...i do LOVE our governator!

We're thinking of you, stay safe.

If you happen to see four dudes on horseback, you might what to think about getting the heck out of Dodge. ;)

It's a large day in my little world. I picked up my new suit and sport coat for the cruise at lunch time and my passporter arrived today. So I will look damn good reading tonight!
