NYE plan, any thoughts?

After much debating, mostly with myself, I think we will try to spend New Year's Eve in Epcot. I would like to have dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse around 7-ish and then walk over to the International Gateway to enjoy Epcot.

We will be staying at SSR, so that assures us entry into the park, regardless of how crowded it is, right?

And speaking of crowds, I presume the park will be packed, but what time does it really start to fill up?

Thanks.

You will not be guaranteed entry into any park, no matter where you are staying. You have priority over off-site guests, but no guarantee. However, I don't think you'll have a problem getting into Epcot. I have had no problem getting back into Epcot or the MK after an afternoon break in my past NYE trips. Busses will also run from the WDW resorts well after the parking lots are closed.

The park will start to get really crowded in the afternoon as the off-site guests pour into Epcot as it's usually the last parking lot to close. By the time you're done with dinner it will be wall to wall people in the World Showcase.

Have you considered MGM? They'll be showing Sorcery in the Sky on NYE ... one of only two times the whole year. We'll be at the MK. We already have a perfect PS at Tony's :).

I hope your plan will work, if it doesn't, alot of us are probably in for a huge disappointment. We are planning on going to Epcot also. We are planning on going first thing in the morning, eating lunch in China, then leaving for awhile. We hope to return around 5:30, for a 6:30 PS at Rose and Crown. I'm hoping we'll all be able to reenter in the late afternoon, with no problem. :)
