NYE incident at Epcot?

Hi,

I couldn't find this covered anywhere and was curious. I was at EPCOT for NYE and there was some type of incident at the bridge before Mexico around 8:15. Does anyone know what happened?

We were heading to Test Track after having dinner in Norway and got stuck in a traffic jam right before Mexico. People had said they had been stuck there for 15 minutes or so and people were even starting to get into fights -- definately not feeling the Disney magic. One guy even threatened a man in a wheelchair -- It was awful! They ended up opening the employee area behind Mexico to redirect the crowd away from the area and we came out by the Test Track area. Did anyone else get caught there?

We were caught in that traffic jam about 8:30 as we were headed to Mission: Space with fastpasses but didn't witness any ugliness. It sure was crowded but we had a blast!!

Something like that happens at least once a year. People get impatient or claustrophobic and their tempers get away from them. I'm sure it was an isolated incident that was handled without any police involvement.

Actually the guy beside me used his cell phone to call the police and they patched him through to Epcot security. He was completely over-reacting.

No kidding? Was there literal fighting? This is bound to happen anywhere including WDW. In my experience you gather enough humans into one location, add alcohol, one pinhead is bound to make a jerk out of himself.

We were caught in a sea of humanity in front of Canada, no movement in any direction for a while. There were a few ugly verbal exchanges.
