Okay, heading down to WDW 12/29 - 1/4, we have Hoop Dee Doo booked for 12/30 for my sons 6th birthday. We have my inlaws staying with us from 12/30 - 1/1, so 2 dinners and New Years day dinner. What non-park place should we have dinner? Not sure if they will want to do parks so want to make dinner reservations outside just in case? any suggestions?

Artist Point is very good and right at your resort. Or take the boat over to CR and enjoy California Grill.

You could also hop the monorail at the CR and then eat at any of the monorail restaurants. So many great choices: Kona, Grand Floridian Cafe, 'Ohanna. If your son enjoys dining out, Citricos and Narcoossee's are also great although probably more leisurely meals as is AP.

CG is doing 2 seatings of a set menu, 5:30pm is $100/person and 9:30pm is $140/person. Just wanted to throw that out there in case you're not all about the fixed menus.

Is that NYE or NY day? If it is NYE, that is quite a bit cheaper than the prices I've seen for NYC CG in the past. A relative bargain!

To the OP, as I read your title and your post, I'm not sure which of the two nights you're talking about....12/31 or 1/1?

BCV23 - I need to set something up for New Years Eve dinner and New Years Day dinner, I am actually thinking of staying in New Years Eve, and doing something easy, then having a nice meal New Years Day? But I am trying to figure out both so I have a game plan!! Right now I am thinking Narcoossees for New Years Eve, and Kona Cafe for New Years Day???? I think California Grill would be lost on my inlaws!

It's NYE. The reason for the price difference is that now it's just a dinner. We went to CG for NYE in 2002-3 and it was $500/person, but it was open kitchen (you got to walk through the kitchen and pick what you wanted the chefs to prepare for you), open bar, they gave out souvenirs (photo albums-those silver ones with an emblem of the castle on them, champagne and glasses that have CG etched on them, a CG corkscrew), and there was tons of entertainment-fortune tellers, handwriting analysts, the Jammitors, a 'casino' which offered tons of prizes, including free admission for 4 to next years NYE event. I can't say enough good things about this night and I'm really disappointed that they changed it this after we already booked our trip. We'll still go to this, but it's 'just a dinner', not the event that it was in the past.

That's really too bad for you, justhat. Someone was asking about the party at CG on NYE not too long ago. I wished I'd remembered that it was you who had posted about it. This brings the price down out of the stratosphere though.

ClarabelleCow, we love Narccoossee's and Kona Cafe. Two great choices. Artist Point is very good as well if you don't want to venture out too far on NYE. The two times we were at WDW on NYE, we went to the Hoop because we didn't want to face the parks. :)

We went to Artists Pointe once, It was very nice, but i don't like smoked food, and EVERYTHING tasted like it was smoked!!!

I am thinking Kona for NYE dinner, and then just hanging around the Poly and waiting for the fireworks at Midnight, who knows, I can start calling on friday, and from the sounds of it, we may be going to trails end!!! if everything is already booked!

thanks again!!

I wouldn't do Nacossees if I had the choice, ther eis nothing wrong with it, but it is very over rated and over proced for what is, in effect a standard steak and seafood resturant.

If you want to eat a GF then what about Citricos. Otherwise I'd go for 'Ohana, Kona, Artist Point or Cape May if you like seafood.
