OK, I **THINK** we are going to attempt NYE at Universal...will it be shoulder to shoulder, I kinda thinking we just soak in the deco (is there a lot of Christmas decor?) We may go back on Thursday and get Express pass and do rides in parks...when crowds are lower... is this doable or should we just stick with NYE around Disney resorts?

Well...since CityWalk is geared more for the adult crowds, there will be LOTS of people during NYE. The music guests this year for the party which runs from 8pm until 2am is Smash Mouth and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. The party is usually around $200.00 per person and includes an all you can eat buffet and access to live entertainment in all the CityWalk clubs.

There are not a lot of Christmas decorations at CityWalk...most are confined to the parks and resorts.

If you are going back on Thursday, wait until you arrive to see how long the lines are before buying the EP.

If you plan on going into the parks, you shouldn't expect to accomplish much. We've done New Year's eve before and managed to do quite a bit as far as rides and such, early in the day. We had a reservation at Emeril's for dinner, and by the time we got out to City Walk at about 6 p.m, it was a madhouse.

However, I think the parks themselves are easier to negotiate during the day than the Disney parks are.

We rotate parks in FL for NYE every year. The crowds in WDW are far beyond anything anywhere else.EPCOT is also packed.IOA and USO are crowded but doable.
BG has the smallest crowds but meals are a real challenge.

No ones fireworks are comparable to WDW and no show to EPCOT,but IOA is a lot more fun and has a lot of seating so you can pace yourself. There will be some entertainment in the park as well.CW will be elbow to elbow and near impassable in a few areas.

We try to get rez at a nice sit down on NYE around 6 or 7 for dinner and eat at Mythos or Emeril's for lunch usually.

Onsite is nice but prices on Dec 29,30,31 and Jan 1,2 are usually full price peak.

what about decorations in the parks at US/IOA are they neat like WDW? I was thinking more just soaking in the sights - since we may not go back until Thursday - do they take the decor down quicker? it looks like all the christmas 'stuff' finishes the 31st...
