NYC Transit Strike..Let the Fun Begin!

Why join a union if it is illegal for you to go on strike? How does the union have any "muscle" then? I guess I am just confused. I thought the whole reason people join unions is so that they can come together and demand better pay and working conditions and threatren to strike if they don't get what they ask for.

In most cases, an individual does not choose to join a union or not....their position it either union or it isn't so if they accept the job they accept union membership.

Selfishly, I really hope that the two sides come to an agreement. My family charters a bus every year the Saturday before Christmas and we head to NYC. Our trip is planned for this Sat. A strike might put a damper on our plans Good luck to all of you living in NYC...if there is a strike, stay safe....
