all the stations closed after the attacks have finally been reopened with the exception of one. this means service is basically back to normal, great news for lower manhattan. the only station to remain closed is the Cortlandt St stop of the 1/9, which sits directly in the WTC site. a job well done by the workers who have toiled to repair the tunnels. :)

Spago98,
Is that true? What about NR and ACE stations inside the WTC? I haven't gone down for a while, so I wouldn't know. But last time I went by, it's very very strange. The train doesn't stop, but the station platforms are still there. And you know you're inside WTC.

BTW, Port Authority / MTA are real heros in this whole ordeal. They stopped all the subways and PATH early enough that morning. Saved lots of lives. The subway service was basically back to normal a week later. They had lots of re-route, and lots of service changed, but we could get back to work w/o big problems. It was amazing.

Salute to them.

ada,

the WTC stop of the E has been open for a couple months now. the Chambers St stop on the AC had not been affected, and the Cortlandt St stop of the NR just reopened. these stops aren't actually in the WTC, they're on the eastern edge of the site.

i know what you mean though. i rode the NR down several times, and every time we passed through the closed station, the train was completely hushed. the lights of the station are all on, but it's completely deserted.

I saw the news story. I thought it was wonderful news....:D

How about the PATH into the WTC from Hoboken? I used to take that every day for 13 weeks when I was on jury duty a few years ago.

Pretty sure PATH into WTC is still closed. The PATh platform is actually located on the 'ground' that you're seeing in ground zero.
