NYC port debarking in San Juan

I am looking for anyone who has cruised to San Juan, PR (debarking). I just book this November 4th cruise on The Dream out of NYC to Bermuda, Tortolla and debarking in Puerto Rico.

I am trying to decide if I should visit San Juan for the day and fly out in the evening or stay till the next day and fly out, as late as possible.
I will be flying back to NJ/NY area and have noticed JET Blue has the most flights home.

San Juan looks like it has a lot to offer. Staying the night is extra money but it would give us time to relax and see more attractions.

We did this cruise this past Fall, and enjoyed it A LOT. I have other posts about Antigua and our Bermuda day.

Yes, stay the extra day in San Juan, especially if you've never been. It is full of surprises and interesting history. We stayed at the Sheraton in Old San Juan that could've been right next where our Disney Magic ended its trip (but wasnt). Walked to El Morro thru the old city. Plenty of interesting restaurants.

Carolina area is fantastic too if you want a "beach day".

I did a food tour of San Juan and it was awesome. We stopped at 6 or 7 places for small plates, snacks and drinks along with history of the city. I highly recommend it. Check it out on Trip Advisor.

I think we will definitely be spending the night in San Juan before heading home. Very excited for this cruise. Now the wait!!

I am booked on an NCL cruise which is basically the reverse of your cruise next month. We leave San Juan and end up in NYC. We took a cruise out of SJU a few years ago and ended up staying the night to see a little bit of Old San Juan. This time, we're getting in 3 days earlier so we can see a little more of the territory. We will be visiting the El Yunque Rainforest and the Bioluminescent Bay at Laguna Grande. We're staying at the Aloft which is right near the Pan American Pier that the Epic will leave from. We loved San Juan and I'm excited to see more of Puerto Rico.

FWIW, you will need passports. This is not a closed loop cruise and passports are absolutely required. A friend was all set to cruise with us but her passport had expired and she had already sent it in to be renewed. Her original TA mistakenly told her she could cruise on her driver's license but that was wrong, even if both ends are US ports.
