NYC on a budget, is it possible?

We are thinking of driving to NYC for a weekend but really don't know much about the city. DH says it is super expensive, do you have any suggestions for a budget related trip to see some of the sights? It will be me, DH and DD4

i live in jersey 10 min from the city and yes it can be expensive but we always find stuff to do thats cheap. are u renting a car? not a good idea youll spend up to 15$ HR to park in some spots. plus u don need it , bus it or use the subway-contrary to what people say about new yorkers not being helpful is a bunch of bs. you will always find people who will help. i would suggest staying in hoboken or jersey city in nj and then ferrying over to the city or taking he subway. you would love hoboken. google it. as far as the city, shows are pricey but u can find matinees or two for ones at tkts in times square. times square is something we do often with our girls. you can just walk around going in and out of the stores. they have a great m&m store and toysrus you daughter would love. allot of other stuff to do also- wax museum etc. or just people watch. you could spend the day in central park, they have great walkways, playgrounds, you can take your kid to he zoo shown in"madagascar" . i think the zoos pretty cheap also. the museum of natural history is pay what u wish-you can eat a hot dog outside before going in cuz the food is pretty pricey.you can take her to fao shwartz to look around. i think the double decker buses hat u could sight see from are pretty cheap also. a great way to see the city without walking. you can also go to rockefeller center and show her the american girl cafe and store. i could go on forvever. if u have more questions, just ask

just saw that u were driving...sorry about that,,would def recommend finding a hotel where u can park he car for free and use public transportation
