NYC news to be announced tomorrow

I think the whole thing is pretty darn exciting! Hopefully there will be something new and exciting!

"In a press announcement, the company said it will raise the curtain on exciting plans that celebrate memories "in ways that immerse and engage our guests like never before." Disney Parks Chairman Tom Staggs is expected to reveal the plans."

Blech. Sounds like the next celebration.

I agree. TA's haven't gotten any notice either, and if it is something that big, and they haven't given then any info either.

Disney Parks announcement: Nighttime show projected on Cinderella Castle to feature guest photos
Featured, News — By Sara K. Clarke on September 23, 2010 at 11:13 am

Disney Parks unveiled a new marketing campaign Thursday, saying park guests will be the stars of a nightly photo show to be projected on the spires of Cinderella Castle in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

The campaign, called “Let the Memories Begin,” will celebrate family vacation memories created in Disney theme parks every day, the company said.

Beginning in January 2011, Disney PhotoPass photographers will capture pictures of guests during the day that will be larger-than-life images during the nighttime show. As many as 500 images will be used every day, Disney said.

Disney will also begin featuring home videos and snapshots of real guests in television ads and other marketing, the company said.

At Walt Disney World Resort, the nighttime show will be projected on the spires of Cinderella Castle. At Disneyland Resort, the facade of “it’s a small world” will be the canvas for the show.

Disney will stream a live discussion about the announcement at 12:45 p.m. online – watch it below:

That was not worth getting excited over. LOL

This is sort of....dumb.

Okay, I'll say it: If that's the MAJOR announcement, it sucks. I really hope there's something more to it. Because that is one of the lamest marketing ideas I've ever heard.

really? i got excited for that? good thing we aren't going back to Disney for the next few years

I cry foul. They are just rehashing what they did at Disneyland for the 50th. People sent in their home pictures and Disney marketing made murals that were placed all over. Then, people had fun trying to find THEIR picture, yet the people who didn't know about it to send in their pictures in time were left out.

Feh. At least they seem to be pulling pictures from the day's PhotoPass photos so it is more random. Maybe it will be a nicer display?

I also think they are a little too late in cashing in on the nostalgia wave that happened at the 50th.

I don't know what's more pitiful:

That Announcement
or
Us Waiting for that Announcement! popcorn::

Ick. That'll make the Castle look worse than it did when they made it into a ginormous birthday cake.

I know a few disers have already posted that they were contacted by disney to use their You tube videos and all they got was a lithograph and...

in order to get the chance of "seeing" yourself on the castle, you would have to actually get your picture taken as a photopass picture and then make sure you are in the MK for the night? hmm, will they tell you if they are using it the day they take it? what if you are leaving that day? You miss the boat so to speak etc. I guess it would be nice if it all worked out etc.

2 new ships? TWO???!!!!!
ok nevermind not that exciting.
