We went to see the Radio City Christmas Show a couple weeks ago. The show let out just as they were seating for the next show, the street/sidewalk was swarmed. I grew up in the city of Philadelphia (I'm sure you know our reputation) and I have NEVER in my life been engulfed in a crowd like that. I had my daughter wrap her arms around my waist as it was the only thing I could do to keep us together. I tried to barrel through the crowd, but I couldn't even move! It was like a major group hug, thats how tight it was LITERALLY. I can only imagine New Year's Eve! :scared1:

ETA: I'm sure many of those same Eve attendees will have the same idea as you on New Year's Day, though I could be mistaken. I wish you the best of luck. Be safe, and remember New Years in NY is a pocketpickers Christmas!

I was there a couple of years ago on New Year's Eve DAY and it wasn't bad until around 3pm or 4pm and then we got out of there.

I was there on New Years Day last year and it was pretty much a ghost town. I think most people are up all night and sleep half the day. It was quite nice actually.

Thats what I was hoping!!! Thanks!!

I'm thinking about going in on New Years Day too! I'm just curious as to what Times Square looks like on New Years Day. And I want to go ice skating :)

I'm thinking it will be mostly cleaned up from the night before.
We went in day after ticker tape parade and you would have
never known there was a parade!! I know dec is a complete
mob scene so I avoid the city that month, but would love
to see the decos with low crowds. Have fun if you go in!!!!

Thanks! I went this past Friday to go to World of Disney one last time and it wasn't as crowded as I expected. I didn't go to the really touristy areas like Times Square or Rockefeller Center though. Actually, I did go to Saks and that was a disaster. I spent maybe 5 minutes in the store before leaving.
