NYC Easter Parade

Has anyone ever been to this parade. Can you give me any hints of where we should go to see it and how early we should try to get a spot.

Also we are looking for low cost things to do with the kids in NYC that weekend. They are ages 2 and 13. Any suggestions would be much appreaciated.

It's not really a parade like that... You just kind of go TO it rather than go watch it. It's not like it's some organized thing, it's just people wandering about Fifth in midtown in outfits really.

As for things to do - the MET, Central Park, the Staten Island Ferry.

Sure. Don't get me wrong, it's cool if you want to go - the Ave. is closed and a lot of people go and some go all out on the outfits (plenty of dressed up dogs as well) and some just do snazzy Easter wear and mill about and all check out each other's outfits - it's a fun thing, just not like a parade like an actual parade. It's more a neighbourhoody festival thing.
