NY Travel Advisory starting 11/4. NJ & CT have separate lists now

I'm confused if DE is on or off the list right now. My husband says on, I thought it was off?
According to the website, DE is not currently listed. However it is confusing because that doesn't indicate whether the list has been updated since June 25th.

ETA: it looks like PP linked directly to the Aug. 4th update

It's OFF the list right now. You have until next Tues, before the next list comes out. It goes by a 7-Day chart, (known as a 7-Day rolling average.)

The latest, updated list will always be in the first post. This way people don't have to hunt for it. (The thread title will be updated too, so you know there are changes.)

Specific links & info for each state will be in the next 3 posts after the first post. There is a post designated for each of the 3 states.

For the more visually oriented people, here is the latest map, as of 8/4, of the states requiring the 14 Day quarantine when entering NY/NJ/CT.

Rhode Island added. :(
Delaware & Washington, D.C. removed. :woohoo: Individuals in quarantine after traveling from a state that has been removed from the advisory should continue to quarantine for the full 14 days.

This list is in effect until next Tues as the lists go by a 7-Day chart, (known as a 7-Day rolling average.) The criteria is that these states have unfortunately a high infection rate of at least: 10 new COVID positive cases per 100,000 people OR: at least 10% of the total population is COVID-19 positive on a 7-Day rolling average.

Suggestion: If you are traveling in to NY/NJ/CT in the next few days, call the business and place you are visiting or staying at to see if they have power and are accepting guests. Tropical Storm Isaias has knocked down hundreds of trees & power lines which crushed cars and made roads inaccessible in NJ & NY & CT. Each state has declared a state of emergency. There is also no air conditioning in places without power. It's been around 85 degrees here each day. :crazy2:

NJ has confirmed two tornadoes touched down and a possible third. NJ had over 1 million power outages and estimates it might not have full power back up in areas for several days.

Long Island, NY estimates it might not have full power back up in areas until Sunday evening. However, many people haven't even been able to get through to the power company PSEG, to report problems. :badpc:

In downstate NY: A state of emergency has been declared in Bronx, Dutchess, Kings, Nassau, New York, Orange, Putnam, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk and Westchester Counties. The state of emergency applies to all counties bordering the 11 specified.

CT has lost power to more than 720,000 homes and businesses. It estimates it will also take a several days to restore it. Southwest Connecticut was hit most severely by the storm, Gov. Lamont said, but damage was widespread across the state.

The National Weather Service in Philadelphia/Mt Holly has six confirmed tornadoes in its coverage area, which includes New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. :(

Starting today we're going to do something new, we will have checkpoints at key entry points in the city," announces @NYCMayor, adding that there will be fines up to $10k for violating mandatory quarantine

More info on the new checkpoints: There are checkpoints at the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, stopping random cars as well as those with out-of-state license plates, from impacted states. There are also checkpoints at Penn Station for people coming in on trains. If one is from out of town one MUST fill out the NY State Travelers Health Form.

I think the forms will be passed out on the trains to Penn Station. But, you can print out and fill one out in advance. There will be people handing out and collecting the forms at the gates as people arrive.

Print one out here: https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-travel-advisory#traveler-health-form

NYS does between 50,000 - 75,000 COVID tests per day, with about only 500 - 750-ish positive cases respectively, per day, roughly about a 1% infection rate. The Contact Tracers have found that 1 in 5 positive cases are from people who came in from an impacted state. IF you end up sick while you are here and end up in a hospital or health clinic, you WILL be asked when you had filled out the Travelers Form. :duck:

A friend who is on lockdown again in Melbourne Australia said:
"Our police and Defence Force are also going out to do spot checks on the people that have orders from doctors to stay at home whilst they wait for their test results and also the people that have Covid. They found 25% of the people were NOT at home when they came to check on them. So, yesterday, the fines for this offense was raised to $4950 if you are not at home when you should be."

In NYS, if a person violates the quarantine, they may be subject to a judicial order and mandatory quarantine.
They may have to pay the costs of quarantine.
$2000 for first violation.
$5000 for second violation.
Up to $10,000 if they cause harm.
:scared:

NY Gov.: "The law is if you come in from another state you have to self-quarantine for 14 days. If you don't, and you get caught, you will have violated the law — you can be fined. If you fly into New York, we'll have your name, we'll know where you're supposed to be staying, (and) there will be random checks. If you get pulled over by a police officer and he looks at where your residence is, will say, 'How long have you been here?'"

All 3 Govs. have been encouraging people to report quarantine violators:
In NY, to file a report of an individual failing to adhere to the quarantine pursuant to the travel advisory click here or call 1-833-789-0470."

On July 25th Florida surpassed NY to become the state with the second highest number of Coronavirus cases in the U.S. Meanwhile, for the past several weeks, NY has maintained an infection rate of about 1%. CT is under 1%, and NJ is currently at about 2.3%. It took another 10 days, but the FL has finally, quietly rescinded the NY/NJ/CT travel restrictions of "Section 3 of Executive Order 20-139." (All other travel restrictions of that executive order are still in place.)

Travelers from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut going to Florida, no longer have to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival in Florida. :rainbow: Enjoy your trip to WDW! Wear a mask! 😷

https://www.wtsp.com/article/news/florida-gov-desants-rescinds-travel-restrictions-for-ny-nj-ct/

HOWEVER, anyone traveling from Florida to New York, New Jersey or Connecticut will need to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in those states as FL is on the quarantine list. Yes, that means even if you live here and are traveling back from FL.

See the 3 posts following the first post of this thread for specifics on the state you are traveling to.

All 3 Govs. have been encouraging people to report quarantine violators and other people violating the COVID restrictions. The local news has been reporting that people are reporting violators.

The Port Authority Bus Terminal has been added as a checkpoint.

You can print out and fill a NY State Travelers Health Form out in advance OR fill it out online. It's 2 pages. There will be people handing out and collecting the forms at the gates as people arrive.

NYC Quarantine "Take Care Packages":

The NYC Contact Tracers are providing "Take Care Packages" to people testing positive or that need to be quarantined. They are delivered to people's homes (or hotel rooms) and contain masks, hand sanitizer, wipes, Kind bars, disposable thermometer, pulse oximeter (which takes your heart rate and oxygen level), Microsoft information cards for online workshops and training, and an information booklet from the city.

Mini celebrations. (Gotta celebrate them while we have them as things can turn at any time.)

No new COVID-19-associated deaths in Connecticut for 2nd day in a row, according to data released on Wednesday. It also marked the sixth day in the past month that no new deaths were reported. :woohoo:

Earlier this week, NYC had 3 days in a row of no COVID-19 associated deaths. :woohoo:

Hi, I understand the list goes by a 7-Day chart (known as a 7-Day rolling average) and the criteria is an infection rate of 10 new COVID positive cases per 100,000 people OR at least 10% of the total population is COVID-19 positive on a 7-Day rolling average.

My question is: What is the site (or link) where I can see the computation on each state? We have family scattered in 6 states and everyone can see Cuomo's list of states, but nobody can find the source of where the info is gathered and the formulas applied. I know many of you in this thread are the experts on this, so I thought I'd ask here - thanks!

Hawaii, South Dakota & the Virgin Islands have been added to the NY/NJ/CT coronavirus travel advisory.

Alaska, New Mexico, Ohio and Rhode Island have been removed. :woohoo:Individuals in quarantine after traveling from a state that has been removed from the advisory should continue to quarantine for the full 14 days.

If you're traveling to NY/NJ/CT from the following states you must self-quarantine for 14 days.

The states are: (updated as of 8/11/20)
  • Alabama
  • Arkansas
  • Arizona
  • California
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Hawaii (added 8/11/20)
  • Idaho
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Kentucky
  • Louisiana
  • Maryland
  • Minnesota
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • Montana
  • Nebraska
  • Nevada
  • North Carolina
  • North Dakota
  • Oklahoma

  • Texas
  • Utah
  • Virginia
  • Washington (Metrics for Washington are currently under review, status may change)
  • Wisconsin
  • Puerto Rico
  • Virgin islands (added 8/11/20)

There was nothing personal in choosing the states. The criteria is that these states have unfortunately a high infection rate of at least: 10 new COVID positive cases per 100,000 people on a 7 day chart, (called a 7-day rolling average.) OR: at least 10% of the total population is COVID-19 positive on a 7-Day rolling average.

The travel advisory does not apply to any individual passing through designated states for a limited duration through the course of travel. Examples of such brief passage include but are not limited to: stopping at rest stops for vehicles, buses, and/or trains; or layovers for air travel, bus travel, or train travel.

See the first 4 posts of this thread for details & links specific to each of the 3 states: NY, NJ, CT.

Washington (State) is no longer on the list on the Travel Advisory website. Not sure when it was removed, but it’s no longer there.

According to the Connecticut website, it's still listed:

"Washington (Metrics for Washington are currently under review, status may change)"

However, Washington state has been removed from the NY & NJ lists. :confused3

Yes and it has been extremely humid and hot in downstate NY with heat advisory and heat index about 97 today, and yes, a lot by me are still out of power.

Yes, I was fine here the last couple of days. But yesterday we didn't have water for several hours in the building, and today I have no internet. I'm having to update the list, copying and pasting from different web pages, on my phone which is next to impossible. :badpc:
