As some of you know, I run a side business called All In A Name. Every year, my family and I have a booth at the New York State Fair here in lovely Syracuse, NY. So, between August 22nd and September 2nd, Labor Day, we man this booth for 12 hours each day. We love to meet with fellow DISer's. Gives us a nice break!

Here's a link to a map showing our location: Scottwdw's Fair Booth

For more information, go here: New York State Fair

The tent is full of vendors so it's sometimes hard to find us. We are in the center aisle. Look for a large sign above our booth with ALL IN A NAME on it in scripted text.

So, if you come to fair, stop by an say "HELLO!!". And, to all those downstaters, Amtrak is running a special train this year that let's you off right at the Fairgrounds so come on up and check out the New York State Fair!! Information about this service can be found on the NYSF website above.

Scott, how far from the Poughkeepsie area is it?

Very cool, Scott!

I'll have to see if my dh, Scott, would want to take the kids!!

MayAnnDVC,

A quick check for MapQuest.com shows Poughkeepsie is about a 4 hour drive to Syracuse. Again, I believe the train is an option here for you.

POLLY ANN,

That would be wonderful. I think you can get discounted Fair tickets at Wegman's and Key Bank (at least, you can in Syracuse) until this Wednesday (8/21). They are $4 (regular admission is $8 for adults and FREE for kids 12 and under). They really need to consider multi-day passes for the locals.

You will need to get off at Exit 39 from the Thruway and head west to Syracuse on Route 690. You can't miss the Fairgrounds, it's right off of Route 690. Watch your speed, NYS Troopers are ALL over the place during the Fair. :p

Hope to see you there! :D

Scott,

I’m planning on taking my mother to The Fair on the 26th or 27th – depending on the weather. Maybe I’ll stop by.

In fact, I think I remember going by that tent last year (same location?) and wondering what was in it. But, we were on our way to the Dairy Building for ice cream, so we just kept going.

Sure, pass us by for an ice cream! Don't blame you though. That's great ice cream. Plus the milk is so cold and good!

Hope you can take a minute to stop by if you come. Would love to meet you!

Scott, all Wegmans locations have the discount tickets for sale. We have them for sale here in Buffalo, so I'm sure all the stores have them.

Sorry, Scott. Once my mother hears the words ‘ice cream,’ it’s hard to hold her back. (She’s in her 70’s.) Maybe I’ll find a place for her to sit in the Cole Muffler Court and go off on my own.

I’m going to have to stop at Wegmans soon and buy a ticket. I haven’t been in there in a couple of days; I must need to pick up something else anyway.

The Fair starts today!!!!! Set up the booth last night and as always happens every year, my spot has not electricity!!! Everyone around has it but me. But no one else needs it like I do!!! You see, I use computers and printers to make everything I sell. Let's hope I can get the electricians in fast this morning.

Hope to see some of you during the next 12 days!!

Wish I could stop by, but it is a little bit of a drive....lol
Have a great time and hope you get to meet lots of DISers!

Well, I've meet a couple of DISer's over the weekend. It was nice chating with Greg (don't know his DIS name) and family yesterday. He discovered we are almost neighbors!

My DW will be running the booth during the day until Friday. She is also a BIG WDW fan and would love to meet you. I'll be in every evening after 6pm. So, stop on out! The Fair is not as crowded during the week.

Let's see, I've had my BBQ chicken from Baker's Chicken Coop, my fish sandwich from the Haddack Paddack and some wonderful chicken speidies from Gianelli's. Oh, not to mention my apple pie and ice cream!! :D Healthy it isn't but oh so good!

I'll be minching on a sausage, pepper and onion sandwich either tomorrow or Wednesday, Scott!

See ya' then! :D

"chicken speidies"

you are making me drool here! the last time i went home i bought some speidie sauce at wegman's. :)

Sorry I missed you on Monday. Due to my current lack of vacation time this year, I have to work my day job this week until 5pm and then go to the fair at night. Glad you stopped by and maybe we can get together next time. Or, maybe in Rochester for the IMAX Lion King movie in January.

Scott,

I’ve just come back to work after being off a couple of days. I just got a computer at home, but don’t have web access there yet. Hopefully, I’ll get it sometime this week or next.

It was a shame we missed each other, though I did say ‘hello’ to your wife. My mother and I arrived just around noon, and left just after Al Martino’s 4 p.m. performance. We were really beat.

The Fair seemed really crowded this year. We could hardly even move in a couple of the buildings. But we were lucky enough to hit the Dinosaur Barbecue booth during a slow time – only 2 people ahead of us! So, I got a pulled pork sandwich and enjoyed it thoroughly. {We also got ice cream, shared a sugar waffle, and I brought home maple sugar candy.}

Gee, I wasn’t even aware of the IMAX Lion King here in Ro-cha-cha in January. I’ll have to look into it. Thanks!

Oh...guess what I'm having for dinner tonight!!

Mmmmmm. It was really good. This was the 1st time in the past 4 years that I’ve been able to get close enough to the booth to get something. Usually, I have to settle for just enjoying the aroma as I pass by.

Although I doubt if I’ll make it back to the Fair this week, maybe I’ll try and get to the Dinosaur restaurant in downtown Rochester (it’s a really interesting place). Also, they sell some of their stuff at Wegmans – it’s pretty good, too.

dont think i'll make it this year... but emmi's (sp) hots is where i love to eat... 2 hotdogs and a soda for like $2ish? i cant remember... good deal though... and everyone is competeing, so its not that expensive:p

enjoy yourself at the fair:cool:

I'll be leaving to go to the Fair soon. For the next 3 and a half days, I'll be making people happy producing personalzied gifts for their enjoyment!!

All I can say is....in less than 50 days, I'll be in WDW!!!!!!!!! :bounce:
