We are staying pre and post cruise in the New York Marriott Marquis. Anyone who has stayed in this hotel booked through Disney can you please tell me if you received any perks e.g. upgrade etc for booking through Disney. How were the rooms that you got. Any information would be most welcome. Thanks

I stayed there. It is very nice. O enjoyed looking down at the theaters. Seeing all the people dressed up and all the limousines.

The Marquis has an amazing location at the very heart of Time Square. It was recently redone so all the rooms are nice but pretty much like all standard Marriott rooms (try to get one on a corner so you have windows on two sides--call the hotel directly with the request). But the hotel is ginormous. The public spaces (lounge, restaurant) are very crowded and loud. I wouldn't recommend eating there; the food isn't great and it's NYC expensive (especially breakfast if it's not included in your DCL package). Tons of food options right outside your door in the TS neighborhood.

Enjoy!

Beautiful hotel! I hope you're able to see a Broadway play or two while you're staying so close to the theatres.

Thank you. I tried ringing the Marriott Marquis but they say they do not have my reservation yet as Disney takes a block booking and the names are not delivered until the day before arrival. This seems to be the disadvantage of booking with a third party. Anyway I am sure our rooms ( we have booked 3 ) will be fine

I have not stayed at the Marriott in a long time. I used to work in the building next door. It a lovely hotel...really great elevated lobby.... it is in the heart of Time Square....everything you could want within a block.

Enjoy your stay....there is no place like Manhattan!!! And of course have a great time on your cruise....we just did the 2 nighter out of NYC two weeks ago...lots of fun.:thumbsup2

We just got back from a weekend in NY and stayed at this hotel. The room was larger than I expected (compared to other NY hotel rooms). We stayed on the 41st floor facing out the back of the hotel and were fortunate enough to see the Disney Magic in port from our room. We watched her back out and sail away!! The dock is about 1 mile from the hotel. In fact, we actually walked to the port to take the Circle Line boat tour of NY.

The hotel is very convenient to everything...including the Disney Store which is just across the street!!!

The Lobby and restruants are on the 8th floor. There is a small gift shop that also sells a selection of food and has a starbucks. The line was usually long and slow. I would recommend going out of the hotel if possible. Eating from the food carts turned out to be good and cheap options (for NY prices). Hot Dog and bottle of coke $6; Bagel with cream cheese $1.50.

Glad to hear this as we booked a pre-cruise stay there with Disney too.

I've stayed at the Marriott Marquis a few times. Excellent location.

We have booked this hotel ourselves pre-cruise in Sept.

We are paying $500 per night with a Time Square view.

Do you think it will be cheaper to book thru Disney?

Only thing is my son and his girlfriend are coming with us for the NYC part then flying home when we cruise. so I don't know if I can book thru Disney and include them in the reservation because they are not cruising with us.

By the way we stayed here a couple years ago and loved it.
The room was beautiful and we were looking right at the New Years Eve ball!

The price of our room in July is £240 GBP per night. Working on a conversion rate of 1.52 dollars to the pound works out at 370 dollars. Now I do not know what Disney is charging in dollars, but I do know it was considerably cheaper for us booking through disney than going direct to the marriott .com website. You do need a Disney reservation before they will even give you a price because your hotel reservation will be linked to your cruise reservation. When I first asked for a hotel price Dcl would not give me a price until I took a quote for a Cruise. In fact they were not going to give me a price at all until I booked the cruise and I said this is ridiculous because until I know what price of the hotel is going to be I cannot budget for a cruise and a pre cruise hotel. The rep then said ok I will add it to your reservation, that way I can give you a price and if you do not want to proceed I will take it off again. I would have preferred to have gone direct as you are in control of your own reservation that way but with the price difference for 3 rooms for a 3 night stay was too inviting.

If you're more of an independent traveler, try our FAVORITE hotel that is the #1 hotel in NYC on TripAdvisor--The Casablanca Hotel. It is a fabulous boutique hotel on 43rd street just around the corner from 7th Ave/Broadway which is the corner with the Hard Rock Cafe (about two blocks south of the Marquis), still an unbeatable location and less noisy and crowded than the big hotels. It's a short cab ride to the pier. We were just there for three nights last week and love it!

The rooms are a bit small but the service is the best in NYC--e.g., on the blistering hot days last week, the doorman was handing everyone cold bottles of water (free) on the way out and telling them to take care.

The cost (varies by season & room size) INCLUDES a nice big breakfast--cereal, pastries & bagels, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, juice, fruit, yogurt) AND a 5-8 pm wine and cheese time AND coffee/tea/cookies at all other times. We would eat a big breakfast, return to the hotel for wine/cheese and then have dinner after our Broadway shows--saved us a ton of money.

The hotel/rooms are decorated in Moroccan style and the lounge is called Rick's Cafe. The room ammenties are really nice, including slippers. I love hotels that give you slippers--why don't more American hotels give you slippers?!?

Anyway, I highly recommend it but please don't let the secret out; I don't want to have to go back to staying at the big chain hotels!
