ny cruises with port canaveral stop-dinner on ship?

We did the 8 day cruise from NYC to Bahamas back in 2012 (May) and it was already hot as blazes in the parks. We actually spent the day at AK doing the Africa Trek and then headed back to the ship around 7ish. Liked that they had the open seating that night.

This time not sure what we will do as far as parks. We just did 3 days in parks, 7 day Fantasy and then 3 more days in parks (just got back Tues) so will probably hit MK. The new Soarin was great!! Would like to do that again as well. Maybe then hit Epcot first for rope drop and then monorail over to MK.

The heat this trip really affected me. It felt like 105 everyday with super high humidity. I can usually handle heat well but this time I could just never get cool. Hoping October has some more pleasant temps.

Can the "free" tickets be upgraded? We have annual passes and were wondering if we could use the tickets at a later date or upgrade them to an annual pass when the current ones expire.

We have annual passes too and are planning to use them to get three extra fastpasses - we are attempting all four parks in one day, so it will be handy to have six fastpasses to do that! :-)

You probably know this but I would think once you go through the gates you will have to go out again and re enter with the other passes. But it would be worth it.

I probably missed it but how are they handling the FPs with the included park ticket from the ship. When do we get to pick our FPs

We are planning to use the cruise ticket to do the first three parks and then we were just going to enter the MK in the evening with our annual pass instead, as we are booking our annual pass fastpasses for the last three hours there - I thought that would mean we could just go in a normal? (I hope so anyway, as we are just planning to wear our magic bands which have our annual passes on, to save carrying two sets of tickets)

Sounds like a excellent plan

Exactly. And considering the itinerary is four sea days, CC and PC the New York cruises have quite a premium attached when compared to cruises leaving Port Canaveral. People are kidding themselves if they think any of the WDW day is 'free'.

Hmm, 5 night Canadian prices begin at 2,785 (557 per night), 7 night with PC start at 3,251 (464 per night), looks more like they are stopping for customer pleasure than pure profit. Prices are higher out of NYC which I would expect when compared to PC.

Yes nothing is free on a Disney cruise or any cruise. Some people call it free but it's actually included. Even the toilet paper is not actually free. It's included in your cruise fare.

They will be given to us with the park tickets once we board the ship - I think they'll be paper ones

People are being told the tickets will be loaded with three "use anywhere" Fastpasses. I've never heard of anyone anywhere having that for any reason. So I think we'll get three use anywhere paper ones. :) those still exist for guest services and other places to give when things happen. That seems more logical. But we'll see.

I was just talking about this with my husband this weekend. Originally, my plan was to head to parks and do as much as we could. I was planning on hitting MK, EPCOT & DHS all in that one day with our boys 9 and 3. Now we didn't plan on doing a lot of rides in each park, just hit at least 2 and move on, spending the most time in MK. We have the late dinner seating, which is at 8:15....and if there is no show that night, I was telling hubby that maybe we should take a bus and head back to the ship by 6....this way we can make it to dinner....maybe enjoy a few activities while the ship is somewhat empty. We plan on going to Disney World for a week in January, and we've been there quite a few times already...so it's not like it's our ONLY chance to hit the parks. The more I think about it....the less I want to spend 16 hours awake and in a park!

This is fascinating to read about this "excursion" that Disney attempting. I know they've done it in the past but I wasn't sure if it was worth all the travel.

A couple of questions: the ticket they give you is only good for one park? And if you leave the ship at 7:30 ish, what time is the last bus back to the ship?

It is a one day hopper pass. Good for all 4 parks. The return buses will run about an hour after each park closes. I think the latest park closing is MK at 9pm, at least on our Disney Day. The ship is not leaving PC until midnight, so we have plenty of time to get back to the ship.

Is a trip to cape Kennedy for the day possible instead of doing WDW?

Yes, DCL offers that as an excursion, but it is not "free". $96.00 for adults and $75.00 for children 3-9. It says it is an 8-8.5 hours excursion

Hmmm, renting a car would definitely be a cheaper option LOL

There is an admission to KSC I recall (around$50pp if memory is correct -maybe there are other pass options), so maybe not as cheap of an option to rent a car and do it on your own as you might expect. But quite possibly cheaper than Disney.

Well, "cheaper" in that the actual entrance cost may be less than going to one of the parks. But the park ticket is already paid for. And only valid on that day.
