NWA Questions

We almost always fly NWA direct from Minneapolis to Orlando. We have always had great flights and great prices. Now that they have been cutting back and looking at filing bankruptcy, the news has reported they will be cutting some flights in 2006. Their flight schedule for summer has pretty much stayed the same for three years. I would love to book them now because they are the chepest at $248 to fly direct next summer.

My question is, do I risk booking them and having flights change or be dropped? Anyone know what the expected cuts are supposed to be? Anyone with NWA knowledge?? Thanks!

I would not be heasitant to buy tickets now. Flights WILL change times, but I wouldn't be afraid of "loosing" your tickets to bankruptcy....

Northwest will be cutting back aircraft in their NW Airlink service. The RJ85 is supposed to phase out and they will be cutting their oldest aircraft. Expect packed aircraft and fewer flights.

I also would not worry to much about their popular routes. These would be the last ones cut. The MSP to Butte MT would be cut before the MCO route. ug:

make the reservation. even if they drop your flight, they will accomodate you on a different flight at the same price. better to get a ticket while the price is right.

I am still a big Sun Country fan and would wait for them to come out with a decent price.... remember they offer the buy 2 get third for free in the St Paul Winter Carnival button.....

I don't think that $248 is the best price you could get for summer 2006 from MSP to MCO. I agree with Duds, about Sun Country (plus I love flying out of HH, rather than the main terminal!). Also, Airtran is a great carrier, and they now have one daily non-stop to and from MCO. You likely could book for about $200 on Airtran, if you catch one of their (very regular) sales. Also, check for fares at the web sites for Hobbit and Transglobal, but much closer to your travel dates. Often these companies will offer companion fares that are sweet deals to MCO (buy one, get one half off; or fares that are progressively lower the more tickets you purchase).

Hey Duds, I have become a huge Sun Country fan in the last two years as well, but I know nothing about this Winter Carnival button deal. Can you give me some more details? Would these help me for flights in October 2006? Also, is there any specific time their flight schedule comes out? Last year I bought my tickets about 8 months out, but right now their schedule only goes through the end of April which, isn't even 6 months out now.
