NWA jumps on the badwagon with non refundable tickets

Just was on their website and NWA is following suit by saying that non refundable tickets won't hold any value after the flight has departed. It did say that you could go standby, but only on the date of your original flight.

So basically, people, be careful about scheduling your flights with a stop and be darn sure you get on that flight, especially if it's the last one of the day or you have to buy a brand new ticket the next day.

If NWA's policy is following the AA policy announced within the last week or so, as long as you cancel your reservation BEFORE it's scheduled departure, restricted tickets will still follow the same guidelines as always - valid for credit towards another flight for one year from the date of purchase. To use the credit, there is a $100 change fee + the difference in fare if the same fare class (Y, Q, etc.) is not available on your new flight.

I book travel all the time for 3 business travellers, on of whom is always having to change or cancel flights because of late-breaking business crises. I had to do this very thing Friday - and since we had called to cancel prior to the scheduled departure time, the ticket retained it's value.

So if you have a restricted ticket and some kind of situation comes up that forces you to cancel your trip, do call the airline to check your options - it may not be as bad as you fear.
