nwa airlines just sent me an email that my flight from mco to msp is now leaving 3 hours later.:sad1:

the reason I went with nwa was that they had the latest direct flight out of mco and we paid about $150 more total for that reason alone.

What are my options?
can I ask them to put us all on a later flight with a stop over in atlanta or can I ask that they cancel my flights and I'll go with air tran instead altho the flights are non-refundable?

Does anybody have any experience with this?

thanks for your help I'd like to know where I stand before I waste an hour or so of my time on hold waiting for someone to help me/

Call them and ask nicely to be put on a later flight. Unless you bought a non-discounted unrestricted fare you're not going to get any money back. Your reasons for paying more for a particular flight will not impress them. It sounds like they put you on an earlier flight, even though your post says later. They may have cencelled that flight entirely, which is possible given the current merger in which NWA is involved.

First, look online to see if there is a later flight. Two, decide what is most important; non-stop or more time in WDW. Three, place a phone call and be as nice as you can be if you decide more time is what you want and they have a later flight.

NWA has a policy that if your flight changes by "enough", they will rebook you on another available flight at no charge. Three hours is "enough" unless the rule has changed recently. So, you don't technically have to be nice, but it's still a good idea. ;)

yes - I completely meant earlier oops

just checked nwa/delta and thats the last flight of the day anyway

but thank you for your quick and helpful replies

As I understand the contract of carriage, you can also ask for a refund in the event of a schedule change by "enough" (even if your ticket is non-refundable). So, if you find flights on another carrier at a price that is acceptable to you, consider giving NW a call and see what your options are.

I haven't done this, so I'm not sure how easy it will be.

Edited to add: DO NOT book flights on another carrier until NW tells you they will refund you.

We just had a schedule change for our upcoming flights in July (we now have about an hour extra stopover in MSP on our way to Orlando) I looked at our reservation on line, and there is actually an option of looking at alternative routes for the same day should we want to change without even calling customer service. I kept what we had, as My family does not want to fly a 0500 from Fargo, and we don't want to take the last flight of the day, so I guess we'll just stop and have some breakfast in MSP with our extra time.

I agree with Brian Noble, if you do call them, I always find that you get "more bees with honey", so if you are nicer with them, I believe you get better results. :thumbsup2

We were supoposed to leave DTW at 6:00 am. They changed the flight to leave at 7:15am. We called and asked if we could book a flight the day before because we had to be in Orlando at a certain time and they changed it for us with no questions. If possible maybe find a hotel and leave early the next day and then you will have a full day down there.

I am not sure when your flight is, but keep watching their website. They did this to me for our trip to Canada that we just came home from. I booked an evening direct flight, there was only 1 in the morning and 1 at night. All the rest were connecting. A few months later, they dropped the evening flight completely so they put me on an evening connecting. When I looked a couple months later, the morning direct flight was now gone, but the evening direct was back. I kept my browser open so I could see on the times, and called them and asked to be put back on the direct evening flight, and they did no problem.
So, it's possible the direct flight may come back on the schedule at some point, mine did.
