The news outlets reported that NWA/Delta has suspended all flights from Waterloo to Detroit beginning June 1 (until further notice). I am going to Disney in July and now I am out of luck (I do not want to drive all the way to Detroit!)

NWA/Delta systems are not aware of the cancellations so I cannot get a refund until their systems are updated - I am trying to book Westjet or AC out of Toronto now. Argh!

This is just a warning to anyone flying out of Waterloo.

What?! This is really disappointing news! My last 2 trip to Orlando I've flown out of Waterloo.. its 20 mins from my house.. alot easier than driving to Toronto, or Buffalo. :sad2:

They've been re-routing people at check in for some flights-they pay for your transportation and rebook you on a NW flight out of Toronto.

A real surprise if you aren't expecting it and don't check in until later (usually don't show up for the flight until about 60 mins before-I sure will be there a lot earlier now).

I fly out in two weeks-keep your fingers crossed.

What a disappointment! I wonder what the reason behind it is? Is NWA not flying out of that airport at all now? It was my understanding that they only flew between Detroit and Waterloo. To fly anywhere else, you had to connect at Detroit first.

I know my wife has flown from London to Detroit to catch a connection on NWA. That's just an hours drive if that from Kitchener. I would consider the drive from Kitchener to Detroit, NWA has some great prices to Orlando.

I know the cost from London to Detroit has become ridiculous, it would cost 3 times more than me and my son taking a shuttle to Detroit so i dont have to drive.... :confused3

Why not price out of Buffalo? It would be cheaper than Toronto I am sure! It is not that much further of a drive from where you are! I am in Brantford by the way!

NWA probably was not making money out of Waterloo.. they too are cutting back!

Have you taken the shuttles...how do you find them?? I was apprehensive the first time we drove but it really was pretty easy.

I do take the shuttles, but it is just my son and I...so the price isint too bad. A little under $200, which is close to what I would be paying for gas and parking for 2 weeks if we parked in detroit. If you are in London we use Abouttown, I know the owners, and Robert Q is a little bit more expensive. Shuttle picks me up at home, stops at the AboutTown building to pick up others and then drives to Windsor, stops right before the border so you can use the bathroom and get coffee (at a hotel for free) and then you head to Detroit. Haven't had any problems!

Yes if you are going for 2 weeks I could see it with the cost of parking. The 2 times we went we stayed at an airport hotel that included room/breakfast/parking for the week and shuttle for $110. We were leaving early so staying made sense for us. We also only went for a week.

I have been on the phone with NWA. Their computer system does not show the flights have been cancelled. They will not refund my money or tell me how they will get me to my final destination.

The Waterloo Airport website states that NWA has suspended all flights and to call for a refund or alternate flight. Right now, they will not refund my money or tell me how they will get me to my final destination. I have filed a complaint with my credit card company to dispute the charges.

I've always had great service from NWA before but this will be the last time I fly with Delta/NWA. It is quite disappointing.
