Hello, we'll be going on our first cruse, the March 6 sailing on the Wonder to the western Caribbean. I was curious if DCL has nutrition information (calories, fat, etc.) posted anywhere that I can look at in advance of the cruise? I tried searching the web and this forum, but couldn't find anything so far. I'm not trying to be a buzzkill or anything, but I've lost a considerable amount of weight over the past year through diet and exercise and don't want to undo the progress I've made so far. Also, the cruise also happens to fall right in the middle of a "weight loss challenge" that I'm participating in. Just want to be able to make educated choices while I'm on the cruise and hopefully still eat some tasty food. If the information is not available, I can obviously just try to make smart choices and watch portion sizes.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen any such information available. I do know that the menus in each of the main dining rooms do have a "lighter note" section, where you can get food without heavier sauces or dressings. From what I can remember these offerings generally include a beef option, a roast chicken, and a baked salmon dis as well as one or two things that are new/ different each night. They offer a side of steamed veggies and a baked potato or rice side. SO that might be your default option. Depending on server, they may be able to steer you towards lower- calorie options in the regular section of the menu but it may be tricky unless they're really clued in on how stuff is prepared. Another option would be to take a look at the children's menu ( this is easier to do if you're traveling with kids, but the server will accommodate you if you ask). They have a "Mickey check" symbol next to menu items that are considered healthier choices for fat/ calorie/ nutritional reasons. Especially if portion size is important, you could order one of those meals rather than a full adult portion. They're not as exciting as the regular adult menu but more choices are always good. You can google "menu disney fantasy" to see what a menu looks like but that's all I've ever seen posted. There's generally a fresher/ lighter choice quick-serve available on the pool decks as well for a salad or a wrap or fresh fruit. It is POSSIBLE to make good choices. Just not easy with all the options. Good luck!

As far as I know, that information has never been available. Due to changes in chefs, menu ingredients, method of prep for meals, the variance would mean it couldn't be completely accurate from cruise to cruise.

Just a comment on this. Usually, when an adult orders off the kid's menu, unless told otherwise, they will increase the portion size to "adult sized".

So going the opposite direction I could get an adult portion of the kids Mac n Cheese? :thumbsup2

Taking the stairs is an awesome suggestions. I actually lost 2 lbs on our cruise because we took the stairs so frequently! Easy to do when they are right there beside the elevators.

Take a look at the dining room menus on http://disneycruiselineblog.com/menus/ and then google search for similar dishes for nutritional information. It won't be accurate, but could give you sort of an idea of what you will be eating. The buffets will be harder since the menus are different everyday, but they do have some stuff that is there everyday like salad bar, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal and a number of other things. During lunch they will have steamed veggies with no butter.

oh....and don't let the servers pressure you into ordering every course on the menu, finishing every last bite on your plate and then ordering dessert.

Ok so as someone who has been watching what you consume, you know the rules. They don't change. Lean meat, fruit vegetables. Reasonable portion sizes. No or limited added sugar, sauces or processed foods. Same as when you eat out. Why would you assume any different on a cruise? With that being said there a lots of the above options available.

I wish, I wish. I wish even some of the food was marked with calories, but in the end I try to eat a ton of salad, raw veggies, steamed veggies, and I always ask about preparation(NO butter!!!) If I can fill up on veggies and protein when available, then I usually don't worry about the rest, sometimes the bread gets really good :rolleyes1 Also I try to limit myself to one appetizer, one entree, and maybe a couple bites of a dessert. Also letting your server know ahead of time- HEY I'm on a diet- please please don't surprise me with any extra plates of food- can be a good way to avoid that situation when they bring you three desserts to eat....
Also- in the MDR it is totally possible to order extra sides of veggies!!

Watch out for the sauces. They love to put sauces on just about everything.

B/C of food allergies, I was told I couldn't have a steak b/c the sauce had an ingredient I was allergic to. I told them not to add any sauce to my steak. My server looked like she was in shock. I let her know that I'm from Texas and the only time we serve steak w/ a sauce was to cover up the fact that it was a cheap cut of steak. I got my steak w/o any sauces.

You just have to be very adamant, but polite and let them know you don't want any sauce (if that's what you want).

Nope, no nutritional info. We have to carb count for type 1 diabetes, so we always look for nutritional info. We have gotten pretty good at estimating/guessing. There is an app called "Go Meals" that might be helpful for you. You can search pretty much any food.

Anyone know of any apps with detailed nutritional info stored offline we could use while sailing?

Good for you! !! I've also lost quite a bit of weight...but I'll risk it for vacation. Also remember you walk a lot and they do have an exercise room.
